Speedy deletion nomination of Wisconsin bands
[edit]A tag has been placed on Wisconsin bands requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Wisconsin bands
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Wisconsin bands requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. --Jakob (talk) (my editor review) 18:07, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Xoloz here
[edit]Hi,

- It would help matters greatly if I knew the name of the article to which you refer. Is this about Cimmeron Show Review, by any chance? Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 16:50, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi Xoloz, And thank you for you quick response, I do realize you would be a person who has a full plate of tasks. The article is indeed for "The Cimmeron Show Review". For some reason , it did not have what is necessary to apparently establish it as credible. There are things about Wikipedia that are confusing to me. The photos that I have posted for Wikipedia are my personal photo and I have had tags questioning the right I have to post it? It is a little unclear. The Cimmeron Show Review indeed did exist, it had recordings that are still registered with BMI under namesakemusic. I two recording a year apart made 11 and 13 play lists , which were listed at the time in Radio and Records, a industry tool used during the 70's by music Directors. All this is public record and certianly verifiable if needed. I did get some notices asking for something ? I could figure out what was needed . I am hopeful that being in touch with someone like yourself, will be very helpful. Thank you in advance for any helpful information you may have that would assist me in re-posting the Cimmeron information. Thank you again
- The article about which you inquire was deleted through Wikipedia's proposed deletion process, which is designed for deletions believed to be uncontroversial. The protest of any editor -- including yourself -- is sufficent to have the article restored, which I will do shortly. The restoration which I will perform in no way prevents another editor from calling for a full deletion debate, where the merits of the article are weighed in a community discussion.
- I understand Wikipedia can be confusing. Basically, your article was marked by one editor as deserving deletion. When no one objected after a week, the article was routinely deleted by me. I wasn't especially making a judgment on the article, though it does have some problems, which I'll discuss below.
- Please understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a catalog of everyone or everything that has ever existed. Every day, literally thousands of garage bands write their own articles on Wikipedia, and we must comb through the articles to see if anything of merit is present. To demonstrate that a subject belongs in the encyclopedia, there must be evidence that the subject is notable. The simple version of the notability requirement is this: a subject must have received nontrivial coverage in multiple, independent reliable sources. For a notability requirement more specific to your case, see the notability guideline for musical groups. Inevitably, given the numbers involved, some noteworthy bands will be wrongly deleted.
- As to this article, the first issue of note is your own involvement. While Wikipedia does not prohibit individuals from editing articles about themselves, the practice is discouraged as a conflict-of-interest. This is because Wikipedia requires articles to be written in a neutral point-of-view, which is often hard for editors to do in articles concerning themselves. I take it that you are Phil Barry, a member of the subject musical group. You should know that your potential conflict-of-interest will be noted, and may subject your article to more scrutiny to ensure that it is fair.
- As to the sources for the article, you cite Radio & Records, an industry publication in which your group appeared. That citation is certainly significant. As typed, it is sadly imprecise: you say merely "1975 and 1976." A more exact citation, including the full dates and volume numbers of the publication, would be most helpful. I understand this information may be difficult to obtain; I only wish to inform you of ways in which you could make your claim to notability stronger. Profiles of the group from local newpapers, either comtemporary or in retrospect, would also be helpful in making a case.
- For the moment, your article is restored. It may remain in the encyclopedia unchallenged. If it were challenged, though, the addition of more reliable sources is the first recommendation I would make. Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 22:13, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
I would like to thank you so very much for your help with this. Wkikpedia is a terrific tool today and I use it daily, as more and more people do each day. I wish to not sound patronizing or gratitus but it is people like yourself who created this, and Wikipedia is truly amazing. Through the efforts of thousands of people editing and helping with Wikipedia, that is why it exists and no one gives you very much credit for this. Some of us get it, and we are very greatful and appriiative. Just the help you gave me is one tiny example . I think many organizations could learn something from the people that work on Wikipedia. Many thanks 66Phil — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.170.78.154 (talk) 01:23, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
