Good day, afternoon, or whatever may befit you. This is a user from an IP address that is in use by the School of Electrical Technology of the Technical College of Reykjavík. Recently, a message has come to me specifically informing me that a page has, although minorly, been vandalized by a user of the same network, and to prevent edits such as that from becoming bigger and more harmful in both size and effect, I am requesting the help of an admin to block the address from editing any article of any kind. Thanks in advance. 81.15.98.250 (talk) 13:49, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message, and for your concern. We are quite good at detecting and reverting vandalism (the single instance from this IP was reverted within one minute), and we are very reluctant to block IP addresses because we would like anyone to be able to edit. If there were a serious spate of vandalism we might block the address for a time, but a single instance is not enough to worry about. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:59, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

- If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
