2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation![edit]

To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name fromthis list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.

It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:

  • Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
  • Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
  • Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
  • Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
  • Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
  • Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.

If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! On behalf of the WikiCup judges, iMatthew talk at 03:40, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Thankfully, no.[edit]

I think it's just a random kid. The IP is out of Newark, New Jersey. Speaking of Bambifan: All three of his most active BellSouth addresses have been blocked for one year. I also got a hold of AT&T who got back to me immediately over the concern. They've agreed to investigate! I probably won't hear back from them due to privacy issues, but we may have seen the last of Bambifan101 once and for all. If he does show up, odds are it won't be on BellSouth, that is, if his parents will even let him near a computer. Good news for a Saturday, no? :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 18:11, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

So you were born here, eh? Cool! I'm still here (and I still like it.)

Speaking of the Midland TX article: If I ever remember, I'll take a decent picture of the skyline and upload it. Remembering to do that when I'm in the right position will be the real trick.

NPOV[edit]

Thank you. I thought it meant negative point of view. Also, what does it mean, 'half a cite?' Thanks, Malke2010 18:45, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

You broke the page. :P --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 19:09, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Also, how did you get your name to look like that? Where did you find the lettering, etc? Thanks, Malke2010 19:11, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Assume good faith[edit]

Yes, you are right. It would be helpful if someone would also mention the good faith thing to Chhe so he can stop the drama of my past blocks and start using the talk page before he reverts. The talk page actually works when people make the effort. Thanks for the comments on my friend's page, Malke2010 19:37, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Also, did you know you broke the page on the wikiquette noticeboard? It wasn't me. I still don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds hilarious.Malke2010 19:40, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
And the material I deleted is negative, biased and is not supported by the citations. It's a BLP and therefore the standard is higher than a regular article. Because it is a controversial topic, the talk page is helpful. So far, I'm the only one using it.Malke2010 19:50, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I think it's absurd that you would have the gall to tell Malke to assume good faith when he's being harrassed by Chhe on a non-stop basis. It raises questions about YOU. Now, far be it from me to accuse you of gaming the system to protect someone with a similar ideology. But, just out of curiosity -Are you trying to game the system to protect someone with a similar ideology? 69.244.182.135 (talk) 21:43, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Hell no. I'm just trying to get both parties to calm down. There's no helpful reason to barge into this like you did. And if your going to keep asking questions like the one above, stay off my talk page.Abce2|Free lemonadeonly 25 cents! 22:52, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Considering how many times you INSERT yourself into OTHERS disagreements, you asking me not to barge in on your page is a little like Keith Olbermann telling someone not to act crazy...

But, assuming good faith, I'm sure you mean well. haha PS Stay off my talk page. Honestly not interested in your opinions.69.244.182.135 (talk) 01:23, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

The 2010 WikiCup begins tomorrow![edit]

Trophy.png

Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is locatedhere. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck!Garden, iMatthew, J Milburn, and The ed17 19:15, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

I couldn't help but notice...[edit]

...this, and I know the only thing worse than retiring is retiring without anyone noticing. Well, that and dying. They're both worse. But really. Why? Is it rampant corruption evident everywhere? The increasing standards of RfA? Is it a time constraint? Are you just bored with the whole project? I couldn't function without you man! Javert, Katerenka, Bubba hotep, Vicenarian...don't retire! (Well, unless you really need to, that is, I won't tell you how to live your life.) Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 11:15, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Honestly, and I don't mean any offence with this, I don't care if you retire or not. If you don't, well, that's good. If you do, though, then the chances are that you had a good reason for it and I have no business interfering with that or telling you not to. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 14:45, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Umm, there's the words "considering to" on the userbox. Cheers Abce2 (talk) 14:46, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Wha?! Where does it say "to"? But I think I know what you mean (...I think). That'sa good thing, yes. I won't bother you any further, as I've just found out what the dramaout is. As I said earlier, tho, I won't tell you how to live your life, it's your choice, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 14:49, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh, your right, it doesn't say "do". Cheers, Abce2 (talk) 14:52, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm really just planning to get away from all this drama that's been going on and work only on articles. First on the list, Pearls Before Swine (comic strip).Abce2 (talk) 15:07, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
I've got to go in a little bit. Abce2 (talk) 15:14, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Abce2, that is definitely the right thing to do (actually, that's my opinion, so it's probably wrong). We need more good content creation. Without articles, Wikipedia would die (obviously). I wish I could do more article work, but I'm not good at writing. Actually, finding references is my problem. I can't write without references, and I can't find references on articles I try to work on. Hell, I can't even find any articles to work on. Never mind, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 16:00, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
