Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Ackeestudios, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Richard Bernal, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:58, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Richard Bernal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.amazon.com/Richard-L.-Bernal/e/B00MYG3SP2. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Richard Bernal has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. I know you're new here, and are having trouble getting started with your article about Richard Bernal. I recommend that you create a draft first (at Draft:Richard Bernal). You'll have more time to develop the article with less scrutiny (although copyright violations are still disallowed), and then when the article is ready, submit it through the Articles for Creation process. Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Ackeestudios, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak (talk) 12:20, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiDan61:, thank you very much for the guidance and encouragement. This feels like a very tough crowd; and it feels--through the language and strictures--a bit disconcerting, given the framework of community. I am really happy to receive the very positive approach, warmth and encouragement from you. To find three blocks on content and a block on my username in under 12 hours... it feels to me that there could be a gentler way to approach inclusion. I will try again... and will try to do this in draft. Perhaps a "Save Draft" beside the "Save page / Show Preview / Show changes" might help. Even an action that puts the page into "Draft" pending review... as a sanction... could feel a bit more comfortable than this very bold red blocks, that require research even to respond to. I hope this feedback is helpful; as your timely feedback certainly has been, for me. I have no idea how to respond to Jimfbleak who has blocked my username... I will try again to remain compliant. Yes, I understand that the process of creating a Wikipedia article can be somewhat daunting. I would strongly recommend that you read through the articles linked in the Welcome message at the top of this page which are intended to help new users understand how things work around here as they start their editing careers. The articles about Your First Article and Biographies of Living People will be especially useful as you attempt to create your article about Ambassador Bernal. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:09, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have cleaned up the article and found sources sufficient to assure that it won't be deleted any time soon. As a former Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States and the OAS, Bernal certainly merits inclusion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:38, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much @WikiDan61:. I am comforted by your efforts at inclusion. It is an important yet surprisingly steep learning curve to adapt the coding of information and understanding the bylaws. I will dedicate the time to compliance and a clear understanding of the rules of engagement. Thank you so very much again. Ackeestudios (talk) 17:55, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

I am now attempting to change my username to {{unblock-un}} which is a fruit or {{unblock-un}} which is my name. I understand this appeal to be the necessary first step. And for reference, AckeeStudios is simply me... not a group. I can understand why it does not meet your requirements, as it reflects a real world entity. Failing this, I will try with a fictional re-captcha type pseudonym. Many thanks in advance.

As it appears, both names were established on 16 March 2015. I will do some more research... and try again.

It is becoming a bit difficult to come up with an reasonable pseudonym to join this community. Please consider {{unblock-un}}. I hope this meets with your approval.Ackeestudios (talk) 15:34, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
