Hello, AnnaAtTheAmbler. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Amble, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. 216.93.234.239 (talk) 23:07, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Amble with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate may links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. SeaphotoTalk 17:57, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid that you need to stop using thnis account because it breaches our username policies by giving the impression that you may represent a group or organisation, ie: The Ambler community newspaper/website for Amble. This really is not a negotiable situation.--176.253.179.215 (talk) 20:55, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure no problem. When I set it up I didn't know anything about Wikipedia and just used a name I am used to using online. I see now that Wikipedia is a very different place .
One last thing though, becaue I am confused. How come you don't have a username?
And - sorry - when I set up my new username, do I still get to be part of this tea house thing?
Hello Anna! The above poster is mistaken—you do not need to change your username, since it clearly indicates that you are a specific person at "The Ambler". Feel free to ask me any more questions on my talk page. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:24, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To the IP who complained about Anna's username choice: Please read WP:ISU—this username is not unambiguously promotional. Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:24, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Amble

[edit]

I've removed your edit. The source does not say that the place reopened, you are not supposed to sign additions to the article and you are not supposed to be using this account at all, as per the previous section.--176.253.179.215 (talk) 19:08, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I see that I was mistaken about the username issue. I'd dispute that per the promotional aspect but Reaper knows best, I guess.--176.253.179.215 (talk) 19:09, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, you have been using your account to promote Amble. You've not once added content that was other than beneficial to the image of the town and, of course, that is the job of The Ambler as a part of the Amble Development Trust.--176.253.179.215 (talk) 19:11, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh is that what happened. I wondered what had happened. I meant to put It on the talk page. I thought wiki or my iPad was playing up. In fact your source did not say it closed. It said it was set to close. And it did. But then it reopened. I will look for another source. --AnnaAtTheAmbler (talk) 19:23, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unless I hear otherwise I believe it is ok for me to use this account. And also it will be obvious if I 'transgress'. I am not out to annoy anyone or post incorrectly. And whatever anyone may or may not think of me, I hope I will be seen to post fairly and honestly. --AnnaAtTheAmbler (talk) 19:58, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Amble talk page

I have removed many of my recent contributions to the Amble talk page. It's been an unpleasant experience.--AnnaAtTheAmbler (talk) 23:29, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
