GirlsDoPorn

[edit]

Hi Applepie655! Thanks for your edits to GirlsDoPorn, but unfortunately I don't think we can keep them in the article. I understand that the videos are still on XVideos, but there's a couple of reasons why I wouldn't want to keep the content as written. Firstly, I'll say that the reason you can't add XVideos as a reference is because porn links on Wikipedia are blocked for obvious reasons, but we could add this one to a whitelist as a special case. However, having followed the link, it's not obvious to me that the channel linked is "official" or actually belonging to the company GirlsDoPorn, and it's also not clear to me that it is legal for XVideos to host these videos, following the lawsuit which awarded at least the 22 plaintiffs some legal copyright over GirlsDoPorn material. We cannot link to copyright violations for legal reasons, and even suspected or possible copyright violations are best avoided. I also don't believe it's a good thing to link to any site hosting the videos or publicise that the videos can still be found there, because of the damage that the videos being viewed can have to the lives of the women featured in them.

We do, however, cover material which is referenced in reliable secondary sources, such as what the article says about Pornhub. If you could find a secondary source (e.g. news article) which mentions that the videos are still available on XVideos, then we could add the content then. I have searched quite widely for such a source and failed to find one, so it looks to me like we can't add this particular fact.

If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page, or you can ask another volunteer at the Teahouse. Thanks! — Bilorv (talk) 08:41, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Bilorv:, looks like the official channel was finally removed in April. The last archive was March 29 https://web.archive.org/web/20200329103514/https://www.x*videos.com/channels/girlsdoporn. But yes I agree with your points to not publish this! Applepie655 (talk) 01:44, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hi, Appliepie655. Have you been hired to edit Wikipedia by MindGeek or any other company? If so, you will need to mention this on your userpage and abide with our conflict of interest policies. Thanks! — Bilorv (talk) 17:38, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Bilorv:! No I have not, just passionate about the adult industry. Learning about how to edit Wikipedia properly so apologies if I made a mistake somewhere. Applepie655 (talk) 01:44, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay, just wanted to check. Ignore that message then and sorry about the mistake. I was being overly cautious because sometimes people start editing with bad intentions, but I hope I've not offended you. — Bilorv (talk) 07:31, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to XVideos, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 03:11, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
