A tag has been placed on Draft:Alexander - Art & Holography requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.askart.com/artist/Alexander/11384080/Alexander.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Hello Storchy. The article, as it appears in Askart.com was written by me. Although I question the validity of the comment(s) from the reviewer regarding the (inappropriate) manner with which the article was written, I will certainly not challenge his in-house expertise. In that the article is the identical article I submitted to Askart.com does that, in and of itself disqualify it for submission and review? Lastly, and contrary to what ingenuity stated above, there are a number of books that have been published solely on or regarding Alexander. There are a myriad of periodicals that have been written of and by him. All that has been written in the article about him is true and correct...without exaggeration. I have already stated this, but not sure the statement has gotten to S Philbrook. It appears there are a few reasons that this, my 1st article is not right for Wikipedia. Amongst thme is a concern about copyright infringement. I am the writer of the askart.com Alexander article. The article was originally written for Wikipedia. My daughter was facilitating the submission to Wikipedia. It was taking months with no apparent results. While waiting, I thought I would submit the article to a major online art site (i.e., askart). I did so, and it was immediately accepted. I wondered at the time if this might pose a problem downstream with Wikipedia. I see now that it has indeed posed a problem. It is still my primary objective to get the article on Alexander completed appropriately for entrance into Wikipedia. I will do my best to do it the correct way. I am far more analog than digital. It will take ne a few passes, but I assure you I will get it right. Thank you for your time and consideration. Artecollectic (talk) 19:18, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Alexander - Fine Art & Science has been deleted

Hello, Artecollectic. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia, the world's largest free content enycloppedia.. I'm sorry, but  Draft:Alexander - Fine Art & Science has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G12. Wikipedia is the world's largest free content encyclopedia. As such, it cannot contain content copyrighted elsewhere. Such content must be removed immediately and completely rewritten and reformatted from scratch. Content published elsewhere copied into Wikipedia must state that it is public domain, licensed under the GFDL, or a creative commons license that allows commercial reuse. That's the simple version. WP:copyright is a vastly complex issue, but if you keep to what I've written you are unlikely to run afoul.

Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere, unless it explicitly and verifiably has been released to the world under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license or into the public domain and is written in an acceptable tonethis includes material that you own the copyright to. You should attribute content to outside sources, using citations, but copying and pasting or closely paraphrasing sources is not acceptable.

See also User:Ritchie333/Plain and simple guide to copyvios

Content copied and pasted from a subject's web page is generally unhelpful. It is generally written in a promotional tone and is not independent of the subject. All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking. Cheers, and happy editing. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:35, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I understand you may be the author[edit]

I did not miss that you are certain you are the same person who wrote the piece submitted to askart.com. However, because we do not require any identification to set up a username, we do not know that you are the same person who wrote the submission. There are ways of addressing this shortcoming (see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials) But I'm not convinced that's the right avenue as my very brief look at the piece suggests it is not adequately referenced. The best thing to do is to visit the teahouse. Experienced editors willing to help new editors hang out at the teahouse, where questions like this are answered. Wikipedia:Teahouse S Philbrick(Talk) 01:30, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. This would be my first article. Definitely need some help with the process. Yes, I am the writer of the Askart.com article. Along with visiting the Teahouse for input and advise, I am planning to rewrite the article, which was originally written for Wikipedia. Artecollectic (talk) 19:06, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Artecollectic (talk) 19:07, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The tone of the deleted version is hopelessly inappropriate for an encyclopedia, reading more like a puff piece in a glossy lifestyle magazine. There are no footnotes, just a jumble of text at the bottom of the page. (And the artist's own publicity, needless to say, is not deemed a reliable source.) I would advise starting again from the beginning, adopting the same impartial, neutral tone found in articles on other artists like Banksy or Alexander Calder, and sourcing each fact to its origin in a style suitable for a Ph.D. thesis rather than a magazine article. The title of the article, by the way, should probably be Alexander (artist), to fit our conventions for article naming. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:45, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ouch. Good information Mike. I have some significant work to do. It will be done correctly. Thank you for your time and consideration. Artecollectic (talk) 19:59, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Either licence the piece correctly at Askart
Or regularise the licecing via WP:VRT
Doing again what you have always done and expecting different results shows a Don Quixote-like outlook, doomed to failure. We know you are the author, but the piece is copyright. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:42, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Artecollectic, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
