Request reason:

The reason I was blocked is because I was considered a "sock puppet" of ObragAterg. I am in fact the person who created ObragAterg, but I used a passowrd that I could not remember and I forgot to put an email on that account in case I forgot the password. I did not intend to use this account here to vandalize or do anything that would go against Wikipedia's rules, I just created it because I could not access my original account. I used the same name (Greta Garbo spelled backwards) because I wanted a name I could remember (in this case, it's because Garbo is my favorite actress). I'm sorry if it seemed like I was using this account here as means of sock puppetry. I humbly request that the administrators unblock my account, as I only intend to use it to help Wikipedia. Again, sorry for anything I could have done. AtergObrag (talk) 16:27, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I do share Bbb23's concerns about your contributions to date, but your response below is promising and since there is no actual abuse of multiple accounts here, I see no reason to leave the block in place. Welcome back. Yunshui  08:01, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Bbb23:, is there a reason we shouldn't take them at their word regarding a lost password? Is there overlap somewhere or additional accounts?-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:10, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ponyo: I already told Yunshui that he could unblock if he wished. However, based on their contribution history, I see this editor as NOTHERE "to help Wikipedia" (their claim above), and I'm personally reluctant to unblock a user because they did not sock and turn around and reblock for another reason. But either you or Yunshui can do whatever you think is best.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:40, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • AtergObrag, what is the purpose of creating and maintaining a user page that consists solely of material pieced together from various Wikipedia articles? How does editing such a page hundreds of times over a month or so, with only one mainspace contribution, help build our encyclopedia? -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:50, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ponyo: Well, the thing I'm the most knowledgeable about is the history of films and filmmaking. The reason I created my userpage was to express my opinion on what my tastes were while also consulting Wikipedia and seeing if its informations were true. But I found that most of what was being said on the pages I know about (filmmaking and Hollywood) were true, and there wasn't much need to contribute. The only time I did see something wrong was in BAFTA for Best Actor page, which had a false information regarding a win, so I fixed that. However, I do see your point that I didn't really contribute for anything that much, and I basically used the site to do my list. I will understand if you'd rather let me banned.— Preceding unsigned comment added by AtergObrag (talkcontribs)
  • I certainly don't want to see you remain blocked, I just wanted to ask a few questions to figure out the best way forward. Another admin has now unblocked you and Bbb23 has provided some good advice below. Best of luck with your editing! -- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 15:32, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your civility does you credit. I also verified that the one change you made to the BAFTA page did fix a mistake in the article, so that's also a plus. If you want to edit in the film area, we could always use a new editor, but you'd have to learn more about Wikipedia and perhaps seek guidance from more experienced editors. For example, you can't use your userspace the way you did. Betty Logan is one of our more experienced editors in films, and maybe she could offer some suggestions about ways in which you could help. While we're still talking, you should learn to WP:INDENT your posts and WP:SIGN them. BTW, pinging Ponyo doesn't work unless you sign your post at the same time as you ping her.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:16, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
