Speedy deletion of Petplan USA Pet Insurance
[edit]A tag has been placed on Petplan USA Pet Insurance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. JD554 (talk) 19:11, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi. The above article was deleted by another administrator while I was investigating. I am dropping you a note to point out that during my investigation, I discovered some serious copyright concerns, as information in the article seemed to be pasted from a variety of sources. I detected similar sentences or phrases in these sources: [1], [2], [3]. Whether the material was drawn from these or another external source, we cannot copy sentences or phrases from external sources without verification of permission. Even if you are affiliated with the source, or sources, we need verification, as we do not require identity confirmation at account creation. External verification by the means suggested at our "Requesting permissions" page is the only recourse we have. Alternatively, you may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators must be blocked from editing for the legal protection of the encyclopedia.
In terms of the advisability of the article, please read over the notability guideline for organizations. You may also want to read over our guidelines on conflict of interest editing, which can help you figure out how best to contribute the article if you are in any way involved with the company. The administrator who deleted the article did so not for notability concerns, but because he or she felt that the article did not meet our neutrality requirements. Under speedy deletion criterion WP:CSD#G11, articles that serve only to promote their subjects may be deleted at any time.
If you have any questions about these policies or guidelines, please feel free to let me know at my talk page or to address them at Wikipedia's help desk, which is typically manned around the clock by volunteers. Wikipedia can have a steep learning curve, but we do welcome new contributors. I'm sorry if your first efforts have been frustrating. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]You'll need to contact the admin that deleted the article which I believe was User:Hersfold. --JD554 (talk) 06:55, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, the article's at User:Athlon2009/Petplan. Best of luck with it. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:27, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I've had to delete the userfied article above for the reasons I explained in my earlier note. The administrator who restored it probably did not realize that it was a pastiche of sentences copied from other sources without verification of permission. This is a copyright violation, and we can't allow it to remain on Wikipedia for legal reasons. It seems unlikely that this is a current concern to you, however, since you have already established a new article on the subject using different language.
- Unfortunately, that new article has also contained some infringement. It seems that you probably intended to address copyright concerns by providing citations, but this is not sufficient to allow us to duplicate text from external sources in articles. Such text must be properly marked and used according to the "non free content" guidelines. Some phrases in the article have been put in quotation marks according to those guidelines. Where whole sentences have been duplicated or a significant enough portion to make that approach problematic, they've been removed.
- Please let me know at my talk page if you have any questions about this or about how to incorporate material from external sources lacking verification of permission for duplication.
- Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:08, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
