Edinburgh Fringe

I made various edits to the article on the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2006. The objective wasBAK (talk) 08:48, 25 February 2018 (UTC) to extend it: (a) to provide a bit more historical context; (b) to bring in the role played by genres other than comedy, particularly drama; (c) and to generally add additional material where I thought appropriate.[reply]

I made changes to the Introduction, History and Legacy sections before this year's festival commenced. I have waited until this year's festival has finished to add changes to the Fringe Today and External Links sections (added on 1st Sept 2006).

External Links

I have added external links to articles on various topics: Allotments, Sunninghill, Ascot and the History of Football.

Hello. A quick look through your recent contributions suggests that you have been adding links to your own website/blog to various articles. Please stop doing that. Doing so falls foul of at least two of the points described at Wikipedia's guidance on external links. Specifically:

  • ..one should generally avoid providing external links to: Blogs, personal web pages and most fansites (negative ones included), except those written by a recognized authority. (WP:ELNO)
  • ..avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent—even if Wikipedia guidelines seem to imply that it may otherwise be linked. When in doubt, you may go to the talk page and let another editor decide. This suggestion is in line with Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidelines. (WP:ADV)

Feel free to give me a shout if you have any questions. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 11:59, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!
