Hello, BalboaRV, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Please make sure you read WP:N and WP:V before you move your draft into articlespace; I don't doubt that it could become a good article, but reading those links will help you figure out what does and doesn't belong here. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask me; I'm around a lot, and I'm more than happy to help. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 04:36, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

You guys borderline on harassment. I have had three different moderators tell me what I needed to do. Thought I was set, just to have Orangemike tell me I can't use my name. The other moderators did not have an issue with it. Maybe one of you can start a page for Balboa Motorhomes. I can't seem to do anything right with you all. You want me to have a name that represents me, but you can't have a page that represents your self. BalboaRV (talk) 01:31, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are a human being, not a motorhome. All we ask is that you have a username that doesn't advertise this brand of motorhome about which you wish to write. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:51, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd like, you can just request a rename to User:BalboaRV fan or something of that nature. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:04, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's really just a crock. Mike isn't a damn orange and Northern Lights doesn't represent a person. So Mike can't write about the color orange and Northern Lights can't write about Northern Lights. But yet you can't even attempt to do anything on wiki with out people jerking you around for their own kicks or pleasures. People have to start somewhere on here or I guess it's just for the few not the rest of us to learn. Next I'll be told I can't have the word "FAN" in my name or I can't write about "FANS".

I am not promoting anything. The Balboa was a Motorhome made 40 years ago. Trying to create a record of history that others can fill in the blanks. Screw wikipedia till it can get some people with damn common sense. It's the contributors that make up wiki not the senseless moderators. I'm not playing your damn games. BalboaRV (talk) 19:32, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of things. First of all, it's not that you're promoting anything, it's that we don't allow usernames that represent products or some other entity. The northern lights aren't a product (and I don't write about them, anyways; I have many talents, but that brand of science isn't one of them). "Fan" is short for fanatic, so it's not a product; a username like NYYankeesfan (for instance) is absolutely fine. Secondly, I'm not an administrator, and I actually joined only in March 2010, so I had to learn not all that long ago. It does take some time, but it's very rewarding. Finally, and most importantly of all, we do value you; I know this must be frustrating, but if you give Wikipedia a chance I think you'll enjoy it. It took me a while to really get into it, but here I am over a year later and I'm still loving it as much as ever. You'll be able to write about your topic of choice to your heart's content, an ability I've been able to take advantage of. I know this was a rough way to start, but we've had some of our best users have even worse initial experiences (c.f. User:AndyTheGrump; you can do it too. My first problem was... "01:55, 29 July 2011 Athaenara (talk | contribs) deleted "User:BalboaRV" ‎ (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion: see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox and Wikipedia:User pages#What may I not have in my user pages?)" I was deleted for promotion. Then it was this, then it was that. It's just games. I have read some of the other users posts where they were in the middle of working on projects. Just to have them removed. Because someone with moderation ability felt like was incomplete. I'm just not going to play the childish games.BalboaRV (talk) 20:15, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't control what other people do, but in hindsight I jumped a bit too fast. I do a lot of spam cleanup, and I didn't read closely enough to realize that it wasn't really spam, but a good faith effort to write about an old product. That's my fault, obviously. The reason you're blocked isn't that (you'd have to do a lot more than that to be blocked for advertising) but for the username issue described above. The bold part of the block message is the applicable part. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:26, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I put in the Bold letters to make sure you read it. You said I wasn't deleted for promotion. I have not done anything but what you saw. I quit trying because ever time I went in I was deleted, banned, or moved. You can't control others and that is the point and the problem. If one moderator does one thing the next comes along and has a different opinion and you have to start all over again. BalboaRV (talk) 20:39, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting and blocking are two different things. Your page was initially deleted because I tagged it for advertising (and as I said above, in hindsight it was a snap judgment that, upon further examination, wasn't really accurate). You were blocked only because the username you chose matches the name of a product; it doesn't mean you were trying to advertise that product, only that it matched the name. I've asked the admin who blocked you, Orangemike, to talk to you about this; he's been around since 2004, and is much more well-versed in this than I. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:10, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I can't emphasize this strongly enough: our only problem here is the username which matches the name of a product, one which is still available for purchase by its admirers. That's it. We're sorry that you got off to a bad start here, but I really hope you can understand that as one of the world's most widely consulted websites, and one run by volunteers, we have to operate at a near-paranoid level of caution about folks using us to advertise something. As a result, sometimes things get hinky when all we are really encountering is an enthusiast writing about what he/she knows best. Please reconsider. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:40, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
