- Welcome!
Hello, BierInTrout, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for helping us build a great free encyclopedia. We have five basic principles, but other than that, we advise that you be bold and edit. If you ever have any questions or need help, feel free to leave a message at the help desk, and other Wikipedia editors will be happy to assist you.
Thanks again and congratulations on becoming a Wikipedian!
P.S. New discussion threads for you will appear at the bottom of this page.
Hello, BierInTrout, and thank you for your contributions!
I wanted to let you know it seems an article you worked on, Spencer oliver, is copied from another Wikipedia page, Robert Spencer Oliver. It's fine to do this as long as you provide the following information in the edit summary:
- a link to the article you copied from
- the date you copied it
You can do this now by editing the page, making any minor edit to the article, and adding the above information into the edit summary.
If you're still not sure how to fix the problem, please leave a message at the help desk. It's possible that I made a mistake, so feel free to remove the tag I placed on the article.
Thanks again for helping build the free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 08:41, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit]'Moving' pages to new name
[edit]Hi Bierlin Trout'
I see that you started the Robert Spencer Oliver page. You now seem to be trying to re-name it to Spencer Oliver by a cut and paste method, but made a typo. Cut and paste is not a good way to 'move' a page as it 'breaks' the edit history of the page. However the 'right' way is to move the page.
If this is correct and you want the page at the shorter name, but you cannot move/rename the page because you are a new editor, you can request it at Wikipedia:Requested moves, or I could do it for you.
As you started the original page, this should be an 'uncontroversial' move so long as it meets WP page naming policy. Regards 220 of Borg 09:50, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- I see I was too late. Your cut and paste will probably have to be undone as other editors also edited the page and their contributions have to be acknowledged too. 220 of Borg 09:57, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Spencer Oliver a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. 220 of Borg 10:06, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, my apologies, the intent was to have the 'new' page with the correct name that the individual uses and redirect from the original page which uses his full name. A 'move' would have been the correct thing to do. If anyone can assist in this I would be grateful BierInTrout (talk) 10:13, 30 December 2013 (UTC) BierInTrout
- As you can see I have nominated the page for deletion. This will allow the page to be 'moved' correctly. Don't worry about it, many editors make the same mistake, in good faith, when they are new to WP editing. :-) An Administrator may able to do it more simply, but I'm not sure about it. Welcome!

[edit]Hi there,
As you were involved in the section of the Finnair page relating to operational problems / technical issues with the Airbus A350, I would invite you to discuss the removed content at the article talk page. Thanks. SempreVolando (talk) 10:43, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
