Orphaned fair use image (Image:Flo Dsport.jpg)

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Flo Dsport.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Yamla 17:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Magazine covers may only be used to illustrate and provide critical commentary on that particular issue of the magazine. They may not be used solely to depict the person on the cover. Additionally, all copyrighted images require a detailed fair-use rationale for each use of the image. Please refrain from uploading any more images until you have gone back and fixed the ones you have already uploaded. Thanks. --Yamla 17:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked for 24 hours for continuing to violate Wikipedia copyright and fair-use policies. Please refrain from uploading any further images until you have resolved the substantial problems with the images you have already uploaded. --Yamla 20:35, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to delete these files but I don't see how. Please advise.
Go to the image page and add {{db-author|Delete reason here}} and they'll be deleted shortly. --Yamla 23:23, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Torrie_MuscleMag.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

An image that you uploaded, Image:TilaN.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

You have been blocked for one month, as stated in the blocking policy for copyright violations. To contest this block, add the text {{unblock|reason}} on this page, replacing "reason" with an explanation of why you believe this block should be reversed. Unspecified source for Image:EriMoriyama.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:EriMoriyama.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 16:48, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Jennifer Garner already has a fair-use image. Additionally, the new ones you uploaded do not have a detailed fair-use rationale for their use. --Yamla 23:57, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roger that! --Bigwhisker
Also note that a recent change is that we may not use copyrighted images at all if it is possible to take a free image. So, for example, a promotional image of a person, even with a fair-use rationale, may not be used if the person is still alive and so could be photographed. Now, this is a new change and I don't have a citation for you. It had nothing to do with me and I am not enforcing this yet, but just keeping you in the loop. --Yamla 00:09, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Kim Loan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —Pilotguy (ptt) 18:12, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ktso.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Fair use rationale for Image:AmericanPiePromo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AmericanPiePromo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Thanks for uploading Image:ReeseWitherspoon.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. While I tend to agree with the statements you added to this article, the fact of the matter is that these are mere personal opinions, and have no sources cited to back them up. Therefore, they don't belong in an encyclopedic article. If you can find a reliable source that mentions these concerns, please cite them. Otherwse they're nothing more than your (and also my) opinion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 22:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Francine dee.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Francine dee.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Francine dee.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 19:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
