Album class ratings

[edit]

Hi - I saw your message on Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars talk page about how albums are rated. Since I was the person who added the ratings for the two albums you mentioned, I thought I'd better explain myself. Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars is correct that it's a subjective rating, entirely down to the person reviewing the page. Many editors give a rating based on the length of the article, but personally I try and take into account the quality of the sources as well. In the case of Cosmos, for example, when I rated it, pretty much the only sources were B.I.'s own social media, which fails WP:PRIMARY, and Naver, which I know some editors question whether it passes WP:RS. Since then, you have expanded it with critical reviews, charts, etc. so if I were reviewing it now, I probably would give it a C-class. But this isn't a "fixed" assessment, it's just an estimate to give editors an idea of how much more work is needed on the article and how it compares in quality to other articles. I wouldn't normally change an existing rating unless it was very obviously overrated, e.g. if the article just had one paragraph of text and two sources, and the writer of the article has self-assessed it as B-class... well, that would obviously be absurd and I would change it to stub-class. But I hope my assessments didn't offend you, they were just quick judgements on the state of the article as it was at that moment. And the important thing was to add the WikiProject tags, so that other members of those WikiProjects know the article exists and they can start improving it. @Richard3120: Thank you for taking your time to leave me a message. I was not offended by your assessments at all. I was just curious about the reassessment process considering the articles have been improved since the last rating.
Related to the Twitter sources and Naver sources, I agree that it's not ideal to cite them. But it's hard to find good English language sources for the album release process. It's easier to find good sources for the album announcement or post-release, but not for the release process itself unfortunately. But I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again Bostonite01310 talk 23:37, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just to let you know, there is currently a proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums#Proposed change to Template:WikiProject Albums to remove the importance rating entirely. Richard3120 (talk) 17:05, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from the DYK team. I can't find the hook fact in the article.

... that, when discussing his music project Love or Loved, K-pop star B.I stated that he felt "the opposite of love" was not "I don't like you", but rather "I loved you before"?

This fact needs to be in the article (with a source of course). BorgQueen (talk) 03:48, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be offline... nevermind, I took care of that. 😉 BorgQueen (talk) 04:20, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BorgQueen: Awesome, thank you! Bostonite01310 talk 19:32, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Love or Loved Part.1 (EP)

[edit]

On 14 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Love or Loved Part.1 (EP), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that, when discussing his music project Love or Loved, K-pop star B.I said that he felt the opposite of love was not "I don't like you", but rather "I loved you before"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Love or Loved (EP). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Love or Loved Part.1 (EP)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

@BorgQueen: Yayy awesome!  Thank you very much!

Hi Bostonite01310, please do note of WP:SINGLEVENDOR, WP:BADCHARTS, and WP:ALBUMSTYLE for your future created album/song's article(s). I had to removed quite a bunch of contents that violates SINGLEVENDOR and BADCHARTS, and also had to correct the Release history section being placed at the wrong sequence to align with ALBUMSTYLE. Thanks and happy editing! Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:48, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Paper9oll: I have never added chart related information to any of my pages because I don't understand charts, and neither am I ever planning to. I usually leave that to the editors with knowledge in that area. But noted. Bostonite01310 talk 17:09, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bostonite01310 Noted, no worries. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 17:13, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
