Welcome[edit]

Hello Brohman54 and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a Help desk, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! ∆ P&t ♀√ (talk) 12:06, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

November 2022[edit]

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Lunkaran. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Adakiko (talk) 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Hemu, you may be blocked from editing.

Information icon Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your image was inserted successfully on the page Chach of Aror, but because it appeared to be irrelevant to the article or violated the image use policy, it has been reverted or removed. Please use your sandbox for any tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. ∆ P&t ♀√ (talk) 15:19, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Brohman54! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Skanda (general) several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Skanda (general), please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Archer1234 (talk) 04:15, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Skanda (general). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Archer1234 (talk) 16:00, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just edit the art of Skanda my friend has made and I purchase what's your problem with skanda art? Brohman54 (talk) 02:49, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An image with a dubious provenance "art of Skanda my friend has made" with no suggestion that it is based on any physical description of the historical figure, in my opinion, should not be given by Wikipedia a place of prominence in the infobox without consensus of multiple editors. I was willing to consider placing it elsewhere in the article, but I am not sure it is appropriate for the infobox.
Maybe other editors would have agreed with me or maybe not. I was and am committed to following consensus whether it supports my view or not. Who knows, maybe I would have been convinced my view was wrong. Unfortunately, we never got to that point.
Choosing to ignore pleas to discuss but, instead, insisting on trying to impose a favored version is where editors often get in trouble. I cautioned that declining to participate in a discussion about the image and edit-warring to restore it could result in sanctions, including being blocked. I do not begrudge any editor having a good faith opinion different from my own, but not collaborating and discussing with a fellow editor will always be a detriment. Something to consider if you decide to appeal your block. I wish you well. — Archer1234 (talk) 21:50, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in South Asian social groups. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose discretionary sanctions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Disambiguation link notification for November 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Brahmins, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Manish Kaushik. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:02, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Skanda infobox image[edit]

Hello Brohman54. I have opened a topic at Talk:Skanda_(general)#Infobox_image so that editors (including you) can discuss your depiction of Skanda and whether it is appropriate for the infobox image in that article. I invite you to participate in the discussion there. If consensus in the discussion there is to include the depiction, I will accept that and refrain from continuing to challenge it. Wikipedia depends on editors collaborating to build the encyclopedia. If you do not participate in the discussion and continue, without consensus, to reinstate that depiction as the Skanda_(general) infobox image, then your actions could subject your account to sanctions, including, possibly, an editing block. I do not believe that anyone wants that to happen, but that appears to be the direction this situation is heading. Let us avoid that. Please participate in the discussion and refrain from reinstating the depiction without consensus. – Archer1234 (talk) 16:30, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
