Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Business Facilitator. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Qnet, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:37, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No Conflict of Interest.

[edit]

The changes I've made on the page Qnet are from the trusted source i.e. the Company's official website. www.qnet.net > About Qnet.

Its better to educate yourself and verify the facts yourself. Business Facilitator (talk) 17:49, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:51, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no Conflict of Interest. I'm doing some research about Qnet and I found it totally different from Co. Official website and what's available on Wikipedia. Business Facilitator (talk) 17:54, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you make 10 edits to disambiguation pages before trying to edit the Qnet article? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:55, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If its an exact copy from co. Official website, then i believe that it must be more easy to get it corrected. People are looking for right information so provide it right. Business Facilitator (talk) 17:57, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I’m unable to understand that what I’m promoting or advertising…?? You are providing mis-leading information about a Global brand. Why can’t you yourself do some research instead of search. Atleast get a basic understanding by referring to the official website of the company. www.qnet.net > about Business Facilitator (talk) 16:13, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You made 10 edits in an attempt to game the autoconfirmed requirement. I don't believe that you have absolutely no connection to Qnet or its industry. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:03, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Its not about what you believe or not. Its about FACTS. Its about mis-representation of facts and you are supporting it. See I'm from Chartered Accountancy background, A Banker by Profession and infact I've nothing to do with the Brand. I was assigned a Due diligence assignment to verify certain facts and figures of the brand. While researching I came through this discrepancy in your content so I decided to atleast suggest an edit. I'm not here to temper any content. So it will be so nice of you if you can educate yourself about the issue and keep your ego aside Business Facilitator (talk) 02:33, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Apart from not really addressing the reason for the block, your attitude is horrible. Don't talk down to people you have to look up towards. If you don't calm down, and continue in this vein, you will lose access to this talk page. — Daniel Case (talk) 04:03, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(uninvolved non-admin comment) I will just say that you copied and pasted the brands own website, wikipedia isn't interested in what any company wants to say about itself only in what independent, reliable sources say about it. Further copying and pasting the company website is a copyright violation which is against not only Wikipedia policy but also the law. Also your statement that you have nothing to do with the company is contradicted by your next sentence when you say you were assigned a due diligence assignment on this company. Both cannot be simultaneously true, if the latter than you have a WP:COI. Lavalizard101 (talk) 11:06, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. If you are from a chartered accountancy background, and if you were working on a due diligence assignment, then you understand the concepts of independence and verification with third parties. A public accountant on an attest engagement will confirm the balance of a bank account or loan with the bank or lender, rather than go on the client's assertion. The same concept applies here: Wikipedia articles do not repeat what the subjects say about themselves; we prefer the articles to be based on information from independent third parties with a track record of reliability, such as newspapers, magazines, peer-reviewed journals, and edited and fact-checked books.
Any speculation on how your due diligence assignments would be affected by attempting to conceal third-party information that was found in the Wikipedia article is beyond the scope of on-Wiki activities. However, it is fair to say that if you were working on a due diligence assignment, then even if you were not engaged by the subject, you were engaged by a party that has an interest in the subject, so you have a conflict of interest by association. If you were editing the article on the clock, you would also need to make the required paid editing disclosures.
Finally, to clarify what Lavalizard101 said above: copying and pasting the company website is a copyright violation. Wikipedia policy forbids copyright-infringing edits to avoid any legal exposure to Wikipedia from the infringement. (Wikipedia allows non-free content under limited circumstances and with specific requirements; many of the requirements mirror US requirements for fair use.) —C.Fred (talk) 16:21, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
