March 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm 1AmNobody24. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Vienna History Wiki have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Nobody (talk) 08:28, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. I added four sources where more information to the Vienna History Wiki can be found. They are open source and not hidden behind some paywall. I don't quite see, why additional information on a topic should automatically be advertising, just if you happen to be involved. In the short time in which the contribution was undone, you cannot have objectively checked if the added information of these four sources is of any value. If you looked it up and still find it to be promotional, I appologise and accept the removal. Christian.Michlits (talk) 14:28, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Christian.Michlits. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Vienna History Wiki, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 12:25, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Bbb23. It is precisely for the reasons listed that I just cited the additional sources without commenting on them, providing the infos to others and leaving it to them if they find the sources useful for the article. Christian.Michlits (talk) 12:42, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you edit the article again, you risk being blocked. You may propose changes to the article at the article Talk page using the procedures described above.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:47, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't edit the article again nor do I intend to. I worked for the Vienna History Wiki, I disclosed that information and provided sources to the article, concerning the Vienna History Wiki.
You can read under "Definition of a source" that "A source is where the material comes from." (see Wikipedia:Reliable sources). If you consider that irrelevant, I don't press the matter, I just don't want it to be disregarded for the wrong reasons. Christian.Michlits (talk) 14:42, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
