I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Thanks for reaching out! I'm trying to understand why I am being targeted as being a writer that has "conflict of interest". I think whoever might have reporting me has that conflict of interest. I am a community member and a district advocate. Does that qualify as a conflict of interest? I am stakeholder ... I have every right to add changes and edits. Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... This is just our user name. Are community groups not allowed to have a say or have an understanding about what they represented? Wikipedia does not have articles on subject merely because they exist. It is selective about the topics it includes, referred to as notability. A group or organization must be notable - according to Wikipedia's definition - to be considered worthy of inclusion.
Community groups are unlikely to attract the widespread attention of the world at large and over a period of time, which is what Wikipedia's notability requirements demand. Therefore, topics of limited, local interest will never appear here.
An organization must have already gained significant coverage in reliable and independent sources to be considered worthy of inclusion. Wikipedia has no interest in what an organization wants to say about itself, so wanting to tell the world about your organization is promotion.
And even if your organization was sufficiently notable, writing about your own organization is a conflict of interest. Another problem is that you named your account after your organization, which violates Wikipedia's username policy. Hello, Coatesvillecap. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  User:Coatesvillecap has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. There is a very common mistake of assuming that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to promotion for commercial gain, but that is not so. Sometimes creators of promotional content are bewildered that it is considered such. If one has been trained to write or spent some time writing corporate documents or mission/vision statements or anything similar, they may simply be blind to the promotionality. It can be hard to unlearn.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. I think you are confused about some things here. Accounts are not for organizations, accounts are for individuals. You edited your user page, which is not article space and not indexed by search engines; it is a place for you as an individual to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia use. Your edits were blatant promotion; Wikipedia is not for organizations to tell the world about themselves, regardless of the good work that they might do. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state about organizations that meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization, and has no interest in what the organization wants to say about itself. If your organization does merit an article, you have a conflict of interest and are considered to be a paid editor(even if a volunteer) and for these reasons, you shouldn't be the one to write about it. There was no error - please see the response in the "Contested deletion" section. Your account was correctly blocked due to your violation of Wikipedia's username policy, which forbids outright accounts from being named after organizations.
We also make no distinction between for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations. Wanting to tell the world about your existence is - by definition - promotion or advocacy, which is not allowed here.

Correcting misinformation[edit]

Indeed. I do not see where we have an article about your organization. Please let us know where the incorrect information is. I was correcting the information about of local school district. The information regarding our schools is incorrect- the tax collector is out dated. The photo has an arrow to another area district.
Also, our district is not the scandal that is what someone edited to say about us.
Moving forward. Would you unblock my IP address and I will use the user name dherman203. Password can remain.
My friend will create a new account- who also was editing (we are working diligently on many projects to improve all of the outdated info and damage done to our district by the former superintendent Taschner.

You will also have to request a change of username, since you won't be allowed to continue using this account with this name. You will also need to give assurances that only one individual is accessing this account, since sharing an account with other people is not allowed.
Also note that the neutral point of view policy ensures that both positive and negative information about a topic is allowed. If the school district attracted the attention of multiple reliable and independent sources for an unflattering incident of enduring notability, then it's fair game for Wikipedia. It shouldn't necessarily be the dominant focus of the article, but it can't be erased or whitewashed just because the organization or community is unhappy about it. A proper balance must be struck; this is achieved by rational discussion on the article talk page to arrive at consensus, which is Wikipedia's fundamental editorial model. ——I will resubmit for new name and my friend will create her own also. The problem is that the article is about a school district. Plenty of news cycles hit school districts over time with worse scandals than ours. The current info Makes that the focus of the wiki entry.

It doesn’t have a place unless wiki is including the terrible history of all school districts, colleges, etc.

globally renamed Coatesvillecap to RRfan1996 and editing about Coatesville Community & Area Parents[edit]

I globally renamed Coatesvillecap to RRfan1996. Please follow the WP:AfC process for article creation. Please be aware that the relevant notability standard is WP:CORP. "All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." Also, existing articles might be a poor example. The best way is to avoid the subject as a source. Also, there may be extensive local coverage that fails to meet the need for significant coverage. I still get the sense you are merely seeking to promote this organization. If it proves to not meet notability standards, what other constructive edits might you make to help build the worlds largest free content encyclopedia? As always, any other admin can unblock or modify conditions without discussion. A ping would be nice.
