June 2019

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your edits. FYI, Wikipedia has a well-developed Manual of Style that documents the encyclopedia's house style for issues such as formatting, punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc. I'd highly encourage you to familiarize yourself with its contents before continuing to copyedit articles here. Here are several guidelines you should take note of, based on your recent edits:

  • List items and image captions do not warrant a final period if they consist entirely of a sentence fragment.
  • When adding punctuation or other content after a wikilink, be sure to place it outside the link's [[ ]] brackets. Any changes to the content inside those brackets is likely to break the link (turning it from a valid blue link to a red link).
  • Always proofread your edits using the "Show preview" button before publishing, and you'll be much more likely to catch any unintended consequences of changes you've made.
  • Wikipedia has specific rules for formatting dates, documented here.
  • If an article deals with a subject that is primarily specific to a country where British spelling is used, we use British spellings in that article (e.g. "centre"). If the topic is related primarily to America, we use American spelling (e.g. "center"). If there is no obvious region implied by the article topic, we're supposed to stay with the existing regional style of the article.

That's all I can think to mention for now. Please do familiarize yourself with the Manual of Style and Wikipedia's other editing guidelines. If you can keep from getting overwhelmed, it will make your editing go more smoothly and become more helpful to everyone editing alongside you here. I hope you enjoy editing here. Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, AtticusX (talk) 02:30, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Upper Pontnewydd railway station, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Please re-read the message at the top of this page and familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. You continue to make counterproductive copyedits, frequently breaking links and violating the Manual of Style guidelines in most of your edits. AtticusX (talk) 06:27, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Motocross, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Again: lone sentence fragments (words that do not form a complete sentence) in bulleted lists or image captions do not take final punctuation. Stop adding periods where they don't belong. See MOS:CAPTION and MOS:LISTFORMAT. Also, don't unlink redlinks just because they're red. Redlinks can be useful. AtticusX (talk) 00:27, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit to Reel Life (Sonny Rollins album)

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you recently made a contribution to the Reel Life (Sonny Rollins album) article that seemed to be a test. Your test worked! However, test edits on live articles disrupt Wikipedia and may confuse readers. If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 07:44, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
