Hi Crazytales, could you please remove the myg0t pages from Wikipedia:Protected titles/December 2006, as it now has an article. Could you also remove Mygot from Wikipedia:Protected titles/Old SALT 2. Thanks. --MichaelLinnear 20:28, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't now, as I'm on a public computer and have a self-imposed restriction that I don't log in as Crazytales (admin account) from any computer I don't have an account on. I'd do this in a week when I can get to the other library where I have an account, but that'd be quite some time. In the meantime, you might want to ring another admin about it. (I'm on summer vcation and only have internet access when we go out weekly to get groceries.) —Crazytales (public computer) (talk) (main) 16:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sstlogo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sstlogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:44, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it as the original uploader. I figure users may just go to the SilverStone website to view the logo. —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 14:14, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Darius[edit]

Thank you for the block. Here he admits also being Candicesfan before thinking twice and deleting it. Should a Checkuser be carried out to see if Darius is also Candicesfan? And should that account also be blocked as a sockpuppet? This would make four blocks instead of two and the second Candicesfan block says abusive sockpuppeteering, so maybe even more accounts have been used by Darius. Your thoughts are welcomed. Darrenhusted 23:18, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I won't post the checkuser request as I'm not deeply involved; you may if you feel it's warranted. Also check Wikipedia:Long term abuse/JB196 to see if these accounts fit the modus operandi; I recall JB196 creating a huge army of socks and disrupting. I won't pass judgment on their relation or lack thereof to JB196, since I've never dealt with him. —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 23:45, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Derek Boyd[edit]

All right crazyface... thanks for deleting my article. Call me when you are elected to a higher court. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcboyd71290 (talkcontribs)

You're not notable enough for your own WP article (see biography notability guidelines), and regardless, the one you provided was almost empty with no context. You are also discouraged from creating an article about yourself.Crazytales (talk) (alt) 17:42, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well good job crazy face. My dreams are now crushed and i have no enthusiasm to create a biographical article about myself. It could have been used to enlighten people about my life but instead you killed me.

Hey, Crazytales, what can I do? [in regards to Abacast][edit]

I am trying to edit Abacast, and it keeps getting removed. I am not trying to make it sound like advertising. I thought the last entry I put in was pretty generic. All I want to do is report on our company and supply information as to our technology that we have created, which is quite notable. Do I need to be more generic? Also, we use the same kind of technology of live peer to peer as companies like Octoshape and Rawflow, and they don't seem to get removed. What do I need to do?

thanks. J —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jvosburgh (talkcontribs)

I've restored the article, as it's obvious now that you're acting in good faith. However, you might want to read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines and the Manual of Style. I think it's getting deleted as an advertisement (tagged as such first) because it may be afoul of the COI guidelines and MOS. I'd be glad to help clean up the article. —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 16:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arkansas Legal Services Partnership[edit]

Hi, this is Accesstojustice asking that you reconsider taking the Arkansas Legal Services Partnership article off the protected list, so that I can get it back online. After consulting with an associate of mine who is an attorney in intellectual property rights, I have found out what my problem was. I am rewriting the article as we speak. I also have permission from the author of the web site and the company to use its data on this article. I hope this is sufficient enough to garner a lifting of the embargo. Seeing as this is my first time that I wrote a Wikipedia article, I hope you understand my slight handicap. Accesstojustice 19:00, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it from the protected titles list, as it appears to me now that you're acting in good faith. I must also direct you to the Manual of Style, to help you to edit it to conform to Wikipedia's style guidelines. As far as the permissions issue, you may have to prove it with the Wikimedia OTRS team. I don't exactly know the situations for this since I'm not on the OTRS team. Happy editing! —Crazytales (talk) (alt) 16:09, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

still do not know how to make this correct.... help please :)[edit]

Hi Crazytales... I actually wanted to make a few contributions based around this same people and their history with graffiti culture. The other stuff on them came up mostly though. I started with "Ari Forman" and was planning to move onto "Espo" and "Dj Max Glazer". But... my contribution never made it past Ari. I think I know why, I didn't add any links to the info I got my facts from. I am sure that my mistake is tiring for you guys. Newbie status for me for sure. Anyway... please tell me what I can do to get my contribution of "Ari Forman" back up in the right way and be able to move on to the other contributions I have planned. I really didn't mean for it to come across as an ad or promotional thing. I will paste below the links where I got most of my info. The first link had the bulk of the basic info. thanks man. Tell what to do please.

Requesting semi-protection[edit]

How frequently must one's user page be vandalized to get it semi-protected?

My user page has been vandalized 6 times in the past week, not a great deal to be sure, but it has all been by the same person who uses multiple IP addresses. I believe this person has vandalized my user and talk pages 72 times since February. I am contacting you because you are the administrator who protected User:Natalie Erin. Well, my troll is also fixated with Natalie and since he cannot vandalize her user page, he has taken to vandalizing the article about Antioch College which Natalie now attends. To make clear that it is the same guy, he inserted Natalie's user page to the top of Antioch's article. Further, the only edits made by this particular IP in the past month have been to vandalize my user page and Natalie's college.[1]

Blocking a particular IP address is not the answer, because this troll vandalizes from college campuses so he has hundreds of IP addresses at his disposal.

This creep has not lost interest in me in the past seven months. I find that disturbing.

I have documented this problem in great detail at User:Cynrin/Troll. Thank you for taking the time to consider my dilemma.Cynrin 17:37, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I semiprotected your user page for three months. That should get the vandalism, but it's always possible that the user is using sleeper sockpuppets. —Crazytales talk/desk 19:58, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Cynrin 20:24, 5 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]

AFD closure[edit]

Hi – when you close AFDs, be sure you put the {{at}} tag above the subject line. The bot that goes through the log to see how many are open won't mark it as 'closed' unless the subject line comes under the {{at}} tag. I know this is the opposite of other XFDs (TFD comes to mind), but until one of us gets the guts to standardize all the XFDs, we're stuck with two different ways to accomplish what is basically the same task.

I fixed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Second Lady of the United States, which you closed earlier today, so unless you've closed other AFDs there's nothing you need to do, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up. Don't worry – I used to do the same thing until Sam Blanning smacked me across the head told me it was wrong. :-) Thanks! - KrakatoaKatie 01:31, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me. I'm sure I'd have made that mistake a lot more times if you didn't bring it to my attention. —Crazytales talk/desk 01:41, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unprotection of John Hancock[edit]

John Hancock was semi-protected because it is a perennial vandal magnet. No sooner is it unprotected than it starts to pick up the predictable dreck.

BTW, the article is now in an inconsistent state, showing the SP icon, but no semi-protection.

O tempora! O mores!

--Ziusudra 17:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two vandal edits in two days isn't enough vandalism for me to consider re-protecting. Thanks for reminding me to remove the semi-protection tag though. —Crazytales talk/desk 19:47, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, IMHO two days after unprotection is hardly a representative sample. Check the last two years BP (Before Protection). --Ziusudra 11:39, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to keep it unprotected for about a week just to see how it goes. If I find that the volume of vandalism is anywhere near what it was before protection, I'll re-protect. I'd just like to do this on a trial basis, since I've never before seen a page protected for five months becaues of vandalism. —Crazytales talk/desk 21:15, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for restoring the SP for John Hancock. While you are at it, would you mind having a look at William the Conqueror? This article has also been a vandal magnet since it was created. I think that I understand the philosophy of "...that anyone can edit...", but surely there is nothing wrong with a little little common sense. It is embarrassing to me and damaging to the reputation of Wikipedia if there is a 50% probability that if I refer someone to an article, they will find it in a vandalized state when they go to read it. --Ziusudra 11:00, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. (Note that both the protections are set to expire after a specific length of time, so I'll check back when they expire to see if vandalism is still a problem.) —Crazytales talk/desk 04:47, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an interesting list that you deleted. It could be a who's who of influential admins taken from some site like Wikipedia Review. What makes it especially interesting is that most of these admins never interacted with this IP -- leading me to believe that this was a knowledgeable troll and not just the kiddie vandal I'd made him out to be. It's also interesting that he never reset his modem to change IPs -- again, another possible indicator of a troll and not just another everyday vandal.

Oh well, he's gone ... for now.--A. B. (talk) 00:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, it's probably a knowledgeable troll with some presence on some attack sites. COmcast must give static IPs in PA. —Crazytales talk/desk 02:06, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ANI[edit]

Troll smell afoot. Started with vandalism on User:Soxrock and a supposed suicide note. Then followed me directly to WP:ANI and knows how to sign. Obviously knows his way around. I blocked Soxrock a few months ago for being part of a big sock ring which he blamed on his brother. Probably related. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:14, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Troll foot smell? Eww. That would seem to be the outlook on ANI. I wasn't aware of his vandalism to Soxrock's user page, since I assumed the suicide note was his only contribution. I didn't even know about Soxrock. –Crazytales talk/desk 16:59, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed that you transcluded or substituted a template to respond to or notify a regular editor with whom you disagree. The main purpose of many of these templates is to inform the receiver of policy (e.g., that there is a numerical limit to reversion on content of an article within a time period, that personal attacks or vandalism can result in a block, that they can edit a page constructively without permission, etc.) It is likely that this editor knows this, and if he or she has breached or ignored these, please respond with a personal message. Thanks! –Crazytales talk/desk 00:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quiz Bowl[edit]

I neglected to mention that one of our questions regarded weasel words. I got it right - something to do with "most of the time, ... usually ..."; weasel words were obviously "most" and "usually". I thought it was funny that I got an answer right not just because of Wikipedia, but because of a guideline. --tennisman 01:12, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey chris, this is Philip Bernstein, you know, that weird kid who used to go to valley school and was a grade or two below you. Anyway, i just thought it might be fun to find you one day, and i remembered that your username on all sorts of stuff was crazytales. you probably either think this is either really creepy, or you just can't remember who i am. i'm not much of a wikipedia user, and i don't have a user page, but if you wanna look at my contributions you can search Bernsteinp (i'm sure you know how to look at peoples contributions, being an admin and all that). unfortunately, i can't think of anything to tease you about, since i'm betting you don't still have a crush on hayley. Also unfortunately, i haven't seen her in a while, as i quit valley at the same time you did. Be sure to check out the page for my current school, known commonly as SASA. A warning: I will continue to bombard you with messages until you either respond politely, or until you tell me i'm creepy, and to buzz off. G'bye,

Speedy deletion of The Homerton Blaggards[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Homerton Blaggards, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Danger Hardcore Team, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
