That's the whole point, as an alternate Sophie is a principal, whereas an understudy doesn't have to be a principal - indeed could even be a member of the chorus. I understand everything you say, but as Ssilvers points out above, all that is your point of view, and all articles should be factual and written from a neutral point of view WP:POV. At the same time, we cannot work against the consensus or majority view WP:CONSENSUS, even when we are convinced we are right and that everyone else is wrong.
