Be bold!

Hello DarkEvil, and welcome to Wikipedia! If you want to learn more about the contribution process, definitely check out the tutorial. It's a really simple and easy explanation of all the basics.

Final Fantasy images[edit]

Hi, DarkEvil! While the effort you've put into the Final Fantasy pages is appreciated, many of the images you've added, frankly, should not have been uploaded. A great many of them were near-duplicates of existing images, and many had a variety of problems (improperly cropped screenshots, using PNG on images that really should be lossy compressed using JPEG, resizing screenshots before uploading, etc.). I have reverted several of your edits and listed the following images on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion: Image:Final Fantasy I Lich NES.png, Image:FF1 battle MSX.png, Image:Ffivj 1.png, Image:Final Fantasy II GBA Cutscene.png, Image:Final Fantasy VII Aerith FMV.png, and Image:Final Fantasy VIII Balamb Garden.png. Please, in future discuss such massive changes on the talk pages for the relevant articles, and please make use of the edit summary feature so that it is easier to tell what you have changed. – Seancdaug June 28, 2005 05:14 (UTC)

I noticed you changed the logo of the Final Fantasy IX page to a newer hi-res one. Don't forget that images can have multiple versions. I went ahead and listed the old one for deletion. If you added any newer ones and never listed the ones you replaced for deletion, please do so. Thanks. Thunderbrand July 4, 2005 03:44 (UTC)

Legendary...[edit]

Fantastic work on Final Fantasy VII by putting a load of audio samples up. - CuaHL 29 June 2005 01:17 (UTC)

Seconded, and also, in response to your comment regarding Final Fantasy VII Reunion Tracks: you're right. My bad. It's been quite some time since I listened to the album, and I had apparently misremember its content. I've reverted to your original version, and apologize for the confusion. – Seancdaug July 5, 2005 15:30 (UTC)

WikiProject Final Fantasy[edit]

In light of your many contributions to various Final Fantasy articles over the past week or so, I wanted to draw your attention to the new Final Fantasy WikiProject and invite you to join us. You can read more about it at the link provided. – Seancdaug July 6, 2005 03:51 (UTC)

FMV[edit]

Hi! I musch apreciated your work on article.

FMV is basically filmed videos, interactive or not. Final Fantasy never had FMVs, only computer graphics, and in the case of PlayStation era, tranferred to game as a video file. A recent example of FMV use is Enter the Matrix game: most of the scenes of this game are filmed videos and others in CG, but both run as video files. In 1993/94 these type of game they had been considered the future of the video games, but was not well received because it does not tranfer realism as well as graphs 3D and CG's.

The confusion with the term and the meaning in my opnion is related with its disuse and abandonment of FMV in video gaming. Since Final Fantasy and CG graphics debuted in PlayStation console this type of game practically was forgotten. An excellent series that it shows what it is FMV and with episode up to 1996 is Gabriel Knight.

I really want to discuss about this subject because it mentions itself directly to the one that the market of games is today: the choice of graphs 3D in detriment of the video.

Grateful for your attention! --Mateusc 6 July 2005 05:06 (UTC)

Screenshot information[edit]

Hello Mr. Evil. Could you provide more information about Image:Final Fantasy II GBA Cutscene.png at the image description page? If you downloaded it, where did you get it? If you made it yourself, how? (And it would be great if you could make that screenshot about twice as big.) I'm trying to figure out whether the colors are more accurate than in Image:Ff2gba 1.jpg. Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 6 July 2005 15:03 (UTC)

metal gear soundtrack?[edit]

Do you think you could cleanup the Metal Gear Solid Original Game Soundtrack --Dangerous-Boy

Thanks!--Dangerous-Boy

The audio samples would make a great edition.--Dangerous-Boy

Publisher = label?[edit]

Does publisher = the label for CDs? -- Dangerous-Boy

Final Fantasy Pray[edit]

Hey, DarkEvil. I notice you've moved Final Fantasy Pray to Final Fantasy Vocal Collections I: Pray. While I know that the "vocal collections" name is in relatively common usage, the name cited on the disc itself is the former title, and that is probably the title it is better known by. I've placed a requested move template on the page, but since moving it back requires the attention of an admin, I wanted to give you a heads up. – Seancdaug 04:08, July 13, 2005 (UTC)

deleting pictures?[edit]

whats up with the deletion of all the pictures today? --ZeWrestler Talk 21:01, 22 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Canada[edit]

I don't really know Canada that well but I've always wanted to visit. Where abouts are you from? My mum is Canadian (and I always say I'm half-Canadian). She was born in Kitchener, Toronto. We aim to go back one day and see it. Canada's always one of those places I intend to travel round some day — CuaHL 02:08, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
re: Canada — We're a strong country - we've already pulled through. But thanks! — CuaHL 02:24, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Final Fantasy[edit]

Here's the discussion we had on the WP:PJFF talk page. I thought it's better off archiving this privately rather than publically eh? — CuaHL 03:52, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

*Where is the problem, I'm just trying to help, and I'm discuting about it first not to make unwanted change. I'm certain there is a misunderstanding here. – DarkEvil 01:30, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

  • How you can take offense from my inclusion of three words is beyond me. I wasn't stating any problem in particular, just reiterating a common theme between Wikipedians - that of being bold when updating pages. If it's unwanted, it will be changed back or discussed. If you think it's right, be bold. Who exactly are you waiting to tell you what to do around here? After all, Wikipedia is free for anyone to editCuahl 01:39, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
  • OK, right, it's just that yesterday, ZeWrestler asked me about why I had put so much pictures on deletion and I told him it was because I had replaced most of them by non-blurry versions. After that, I thought that when uploading an image that could be contested (my screenshot being non-blurry but containing a little bit smaller Cid), I should ask first. I wasn't really, "offensed", it's just that when I put a reply, words may seem more that what they actually mean as I don't have as many vocabulary as a true english speaker (I'm a native french Canadian). I was not offended and sorry, for the misunderstanding I caused there. Thanks for replying fast anyway. – DarkEvil 01:55, July 25, 2005 (UTC)
  • I only replied so quick because I happened to be about and checking my watchlist. No problem though, I just didn't want you taking up a personal matter with me on the WikiProject talk page. I don't really know if you know this, but I'll say it just in case - you can upload an image over another image and still keep the same filename. This is useful because if you do find a better version of a file, it updates it automatically. Also, other images don't have to be filed for deletion. Plus, the image can always be reverted if there's ever a contest about your decisions. Sorry about the misunderstanding, but they're bound to happen on these talk pages at some point. But what I said earlier still stands. Be bold when updating pages, and if you mess up it can always be reverted. It's only when you're doing huge changes to pages it would usually involved discussion. Where about are you from? Scratch that.. I'll ask on your talk page — CuaHL 02:04, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
You're right about that!!! – DarkEvil 03:54, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

re: Image:Cquote1.png_and_Image:Cquote2.png — Uh, sorry guys, I really don't understand what you mean by what you said on my talk page. But if it helps any, I made the quotation marks for some quotes I was going to use (but in turn never did). They were made in Photoshop and they are indeed my creation. I really don't know which image tags to use, but if they're any bother, tell me and I'll file them for deletion. Cheers for letting me know.. uhh.. what you did :D — CuaHL 20:33, 27 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Article Drive[edit]

I just thought I'd be more useful on the Final Fantasy VII one. I'm useless on VI because I don't really know much more about it than its storyline. — CuaHL 23:21, 27 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ooops..[edit]

Looks like we've hit our first edit conflict on Final Fantasy bestiary. I'll let you carry on for a bit.. I've been working for hours and need a break :) — CuaHL 14:53, 28 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Biggs and Wedge Theme Music[edit]

The theme music for B&W is called "The Man With the Machine Gun", Track 19, Disc One of the Final Fantasy VIII Original Soundtrack - as far as I'm aware - you may want to check that out, because there may be one or two variations of the themetune also present on the album.

I always believed that "The Man With The Machine Gun," was referring to Laguna, the only character to use a machine gun. --jonasaurus 18:21, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, me too, User:Alfakim is the one who proposed this, he probably made a mistake. I don't think they have a theme music, the music heard during fights against them is only the regular boss battle theme music which is Audio file "Final Fantasy VIII - Force Your Way.ogg" not found.

Censorship in Final Fantasy VI[edit]

Hey I wanted to compliment you on your recent addition to the Final Fantasy VI article. I think the table adds a great deal. One minor point, though. Do you think we need that many examples of censored nudity? There are four examples at the moment, compared with one example for the other types. Perhaps you might consider eliminating two? --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 18:36, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

I agree that it would be hard to choose which to remove. I guess my major objection is the table is large and it spoils the layout of the article. I'm fine with leaving this as is for now. I just have a nagging suspicion it will stand in the way of the article becoming featured. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 00:32, August 9, 2005 (UTC)

User Page Edit[edit]

Hi there. I'm relatively new here and I just stopped by to tell you that I changed two of the links on your user page. I'm not sure still if that was good Wikiquette or not, but I'm in the process of removing a number of redundant redirects from wikipedia, and moving articles so that they conform to naming conventions. Anyway, I changed two links, and did not change any content... If you could, it would be great to know if this kinda thing is ok or not. Let me know. --jonasaurus 08:36, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Thanks for understanding. You did good work on those articles... And on a side note, you're interested in some really cool things. Looking at your user page is kinda like looking at one that I'd like to have when I have some more time. Perhaps we will work on some FF Articles together in the future. --jonasaurus 18:15, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My Compliments to you[edit]

Well I have been looking through your edits and I am astounded at your work, it is a shining example for the future of Wikipedia and I would like to award you a barnstar after I figure out which one would be appropriate if you would like to recieve one Derktar 07:26, August 8, 2005 (UTC).

Image:Red xIII seto.jpg[edit]

I dont think that its a game screenshot, there is a screen like it in one FMV. However i believe it is on free use because a lot of sites host it and is part of as set (pics which contain the other characters from FFVII). Selo 08:17, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Final Fantasy project[edit]

oh yeah man, it's locke cole (i'm currently replaying ff6 and 5 in japanese right now ;), and for a long time i've been meaning to overhaul FF articles...the thing with me is I'm so goddamned lazy that I never do, but I have so much I could contribute it's absurd...and in the meanwhile while I'm procrastinating I see people have contributed to the FF articles instead...heh ;)

But i'll gladdly help! Lockeownzj00 10:01, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FFVI referances[edit]

check out the peer review to the FFVI game. I put a note in there about the article needing some referances. I mentioned you specifically because I know contributed a lot to the article, and you would hopefully/probally still have the sources you used. --ZeWrestler Talk 14:47, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned pictures[edit]

I noticed you have a lot of beastery images that are repeated on the server. I'm curious what your planning to do with all of them? --ZeWrestler Talk 16:11, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the Final Fantasy VII world map you recently uploaded in scanned from the Official Final Fantasy VII guide. I'm pretty sure this doesn't count as fair use. Not least because it could potently have an effect upon work's value. (I don't know about you, but I can see someone buying the guide just for that map.) Although the last map was incomplete, at least it wasn't copyrighted. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 13:02, August 9, 2005 (UTC)

How about a modified version of the image? — CuaHL 13:08, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that would count either. The safest bet is to make an original copy of the image. (That is, an original work heavily based upon this image.) --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 13:18, August 9, 2005 (UTC)
I'm on it. I'll have one ready by tomorrow — CuaHL 13:27, 9 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Great! :) --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 14:03, August 9, 2005 (UTC)

Hey, there's no need to apologise to me. I should apologise to you and Cuahl for making your job more difficult. ;) Also, as you said, some good has come from it. As far as I am aware, it should be fine to upload over the old image. But if not, as the orginal uploader you can request speedy deletion. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 15:36, August 9, 2005 (UTC)

File:Final Fantasy VII Map (temp).jpg

(left) Here's what I've made so far, so you see where I'm going with it. I'll use textures from the old image - I can't see any harm in that, and it's more difficult for me to make images of mountains/forests. How can I make it better? I'm still using an editable layered file so I can change any part of the image if you guys think any differently. Just wanted to show you what I was doing. — CuaHL 11:11, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, looking great! I'm afraid I have no suggestions for improvement, I'm no artist. I look forward to seeing the complete version. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 11:29, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
You're really good, me too I can't see any way to improve it other than that, if you continue like this, the final one will be perfect. I know it takes a lot of time and patience to do things like this so thank you for your work. – DarkEvil 14:48, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
Ooops. I messed up the image big time. I'll start work again on it tomorrow, but I don't know if I'll have time until a couple of weeks time — CuaHL 17:28, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tags[edit]

Yeah it surprised me as well. I'll be doing that too today then i'll be gone for about the week and conclude it when I get back here. I hope we can spread the word by putting all the tags up Derktar 16:22, August 10, 2005 (UTC).

Final Fantasy VI Naming Conventions[edit]

The answer is 'depends,' DarkEvil. It works like this: Let's take the japanese text first.

ファイナルファンタジー

This reads, romanized in the common Hepburn method, "Fainaru Fantajii." This is a long "i," pronounced "ee" and common in 外来語 (gairaigo, loanwords). The "issue" here is that the 'offending character,' "î," is a symbol signifying "ii," or "ee." So Saying Fainaru Fantajî OR Fainaru Fantajii is correct. One i would technically not be correct--besides just being an incorrect romanisation, while the japanese IME auto-corrects hiragana ふぁいなるふぁんたじー into katakana ファイナルファンタジー, typing without the ー (representing a long vowel, in this case ii) and having it auto-correct ふぁいなるふぁんたじ yields ファイナルファン他事. As you can notice, I confused it with the incorrect last word there--because the word ファンタジー is just what it is: fantasy.

Sorry if that's a little confusing ^_^; Lockeownzj00 16:58, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

screenshots[edit]

i noticed your screenshots, for example, those in the ff6 locations article, are perfectly pixelated--that is, proportional, not blurry. Are you using zsnes? what resolution? Lockeownzj00 20:23, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Phishing rationale[edit]

hey,

would you mind taking a look at the e-mail screenshots in the Phishing article, to see if the rationale I added for the fairuse images is enough. --ZeWrestler Talk 15:46, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FF6 screenshots[edit]

You seem to be the FF screenshot guru, so I wanted to run a few ideas for screenshots for the FF6 article by you. Something showing the mode 7 travel via chocobo or airship would be great. Also, there's no shot of an actual battle. Do you think a status window or inventory screen would be overboard? -- Norvy (talk) 22:42, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

One look at FFVI before FAC[edit]

Hey, If you can, i'd really like you to take a look at the Final Fantasy VI article before i nominate it for FAC status. You've been a great help to improving the article, and your input is always great in reguards to improving the article.--ZeWrestler Talk 12:19, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FAC[edit]

It has been almost 2 months since we had the featured article drive. Since then Final Fantasy VI has received a lot of work to get its status raised to FA. You yourself have been great contributions to this article. As of today, I have closed the peer review for the article and nominated the game for FAC, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Final Fantasy VI. Please read the article over and vote appropriately. --ZeWrestler Talk 14:02, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

I want to bring to your attention the large number of unused files you uploaded to Wikipedia. As of September 12, there are 594 orphan files uploaded by you. That's more than any one user on Wikipedia. Most of these files are tagged as fair use. However, we can't claim fair use on images that are not being used, and lately many such images are being deleted on-sight. If these images remain unused after a week or so, I'll start having them deleted. Coffee 03:47, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images[edit]

Hi, it's cool that you're adding fair use rationales to FF-related images - thanx! In addition, if you change the tag from "fairuse" to "fairusein|<title>", that moves the image into a separate category, leaving the toplevel category consisting of images whose fair use has not yet been justified (eventually I expect Category:Fair use images will be mostly empty, with everything in subcats). Stan 14:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
