Nii just won't lie down

Hi, I noticed in AfD today Nii Ahene was speedily dispatched. Well, he's back, identical article to last time. Wasn't sure what to do, but I guess you will. So... there you go! :-) --DaveG12345 18:44, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, It looks from the history of the article that it has been posted to the userpage of User:Uberrascht and then deleted by RHaworth, so that should be an end to it. Thanks for letting me know!  (aeropagitica)  (talk)  19:53, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

You couldn't have argued the case any better if you tried. On a side note, the user that created the article and has been arguing for its keep blanked the AfD page in an attempt to remove it (I think). Didn't mention it as it is not relevant to the delete process, article should be judged by its on worthlessness not the actions of its major editor. Seeya around. Viridae 13:03, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

That made me laugh. I hadn't heard of WP:SNOW before, so before i read it I thought it was going to be about snowing someone under with a flurry of regulations. Viridae 13:21, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I understand people's delete votes in this case, but perhaps an unfriendly (but still NPOV) article would be appropriate to deal with the complaints about the company, if in fact there are a lot of complaints. --TruthbringerToronto 03:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not into maths either, but the game does sound interesting. Only because you both know that the winning square is one of the 8 in your row / column, and you have to deduct what square it is by analyzing your mates moves to work out his row, while talking a good game to bluff and distract him at the same time. There are a few of my mates who i'd love to play at it, a few i wouldnt and a few who wouldnt get it. I'll give it a go and let you know what happens ;) Still don't fancy getting some poor sod to referee tho. Deizio talk 02:54, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Jeff Lindsay

To vote for deletion, go to this page, as I'm unable to add it onto the actual AfD page: [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeff Lindsay (second nomination)] --Riley 03:52, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

  • To be honest I'm way too new to wikipedia. I really don't know how to do all of that stuff. You're more than welcome to do it for me though *g* :) --Riley 04:19, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

World Cup Sponsorship AfD

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I’ve made some rather large additions to 2006 FIFA World Cup sponsorship and would appreciate if you could take a look at them and possibly reconsider your comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2006 FIFA World Cup sponsorship. I thought it was a worthy topic, even though it had a wretched article, so I added information about revenue and the sponsorship process, the sponsor related controversies of this World Cup (tickets distribution, Budweiser in Germany, Mcdonalds at a sporting event), and took out the copyvios. Please take a look. Thanks! Vickser 19:32, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

I was in the process of answering your question when the AfD got shut down... I think there ARE verifiable sources, I am just not certain that anyone on this AfD (certainly not me) have the knowledge to do that. I think, given enough time, the right Wiki user will emerge and have the desired info. That's what bothers me about AfDs sometimes... sometimes, the right person comes along after the five days is up, but the article is gone! :) PT (s-s-s-s) 23:09, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Saw you on the Punk WikiProject list... Your input is valued! - Sir, please check out whats going on there Talk:Pop_punk_revival and add you opinion to the "Merge Discussion" Xsxex 23:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk. Also, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 06:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Though Bangladesh Booty got deleted, I still appreciate the energy you devoted to the cause of the article. Now, I need some help in cleaning up the entry for Jazmin. Will you again be interested? Thanks. Aditya Kabir 22:32, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Ramones / Sex Pistols

Precisely what does this mean, "Recordings attest that, by the time the Ramones could be heard in the UK, the Pistols already had their musical style worked out, and it underwent very little change, other than some increased professional polish (presumably not caused by the Ramones! ;-)...?" I don't ask on the punk talk page because it's off topic enough already. Still, what recordings attest that by "the time the Ramones could be heard in the UK?" How could any recording attest that? The Sex Pistols Were The First Punk Band

Thanks for picking up the gauntlet on the Ramones issue. This thing is driving me bananas. There is a clear and increasingly successful US attempt to rewrite history to replace the Sex Pistols with the Ramones as the first punk band, I think based upon some recent US books and a TV documentary on the subject.
A couple of years ago if you asked anyone in the world who the first punk band was they'd have said 'The Sex Pistols', today most probably still would except in the US, who would now say 'The Ramones'. And this fallacy is growing - if you search the web there are increasing numbers of US sites picking this up (probably from Wikipedia).
The Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Stranglers and the Buzzcocks had all played gigs before the Ramones ever came to the UK or released their first album. So how could the Ramones have influenced these bands or been the reason Mick/Steve/AN Other Jones was 'in a band' or all the other made-up guff that's being passed around between this crowd??? I think I'm going to blow a gasket!
I'm currently reading John Robb's 'Punk Rock - And Oral History' in which the Clash's first gig is dated as 4th July 1976, the Damned's first gig was 6th July and Howard Devoto says The Buzzcocks played their first gig in March 1976, whereas Wikipedia (under The Ramones) says these bands first gigs were a few weeks after the Ramones first gigs in the UK (a lame bit of evidence in the first place but also totally untrue!)
They're taking flimsy bits of cobbled-together evidence and making the rest in up in an attempt to rewrite history up to push The Ramones to this seminal position. Is there anything we can do about it? jcleary 11:59, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:WTTP - picturediscsingle.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:WTTP - picturediscsingle.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 09:39, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Bang FGTHbestof.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bang FGTHbestof.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

This post [1] and in particular this part: "Hence I feel - personally - that you represent everything that Wikipedia should actively aim to utterly reject and destroy" are competely unacceptable. Please avoid making personal attacks against other users. I have removed your post, feel free to replace it with a more civil message. WjBscribe 05:18, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Per Non-free use rationale guideline (Non-template section), you might want to put the article name in the rationale on Image:WTTP_origLP.jpg--Rockfang (talk) 00:53, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
