Speedy deletion of Kenneth D. Pasternak

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kenneth D. Pasternak requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 16:46, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kenneth D. Pasternak

[edit]

Djmason43: I wanted to thank you for your contributions on the Pasternak article. It appears that in fact he is notable under wikipedia policies. I noticed that the article had been created and deleted a few times before its current version. I'm reasonably sure this happened because the initial articles did not indicate how the individual was notable (in other words, why this individual should be included in an encyclopedia). Also, I cannot help but think that the copy-editing of the articles contributed towards this perception.

This is unfortunate because, as it appears now, this is useful and worthwhile information for the encyclopedia. My suggestion, and hope, is that you'll familiarize yourself with some of the tools on wikipedia, especially the manual of style. I've noticed from your edits (and an IP that I assume are your contributions as well) a few places where I have suggestions.

  • Try to write in prose style, not timeline style. So instead of writing "1999: Created company XYZ" try "In 1999, he created XYZ company".
  • When putting in references, use the ref template. To do that, just use this format <ref>INSERT CITATION HERE</ref>. This will put a footnote and put whatever you use to replace INSERT CITATION in the reference list at the bottom of the page. Even better, if you can put in a full citation in addition to the links. This makes readability a lot better, and it also allows people to evaluate the link before going to it.

If you have any other questions feel free to write them after my comment here, and I'll try to help if I can/time permitting. There are also a number of editors that actively seek out new users to help answer questions, etc. I can point you towards those resources too if you think that'd be useful. Thanks again for your help. Shadowjams (talk) 19:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
