A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Drug Addicts Anonymous, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... This is a non profit organisation dedicated to helping drug addicts recover from drug addiction. DAA or Drug Addicts Anonymous has been approved by Alcoholics Anonymous to use there Big Book of Alcoholics and there 12 Step program.

Wikipedia makes no distinctions between for-profit and non-profit entities. Please review WP:ORGFAQ for more information. Wikipedia is not simply for telling the world about good causes and is not for promotional purposes. You will likely be asked to change your username, as usernames cannot be that of an organization per the username policy. You also will likely have to agree to not directly edit about your organization due to conflict of interest issues. It may be possible for you to submit an article through Articles for Creation which allows for outside review before posting, but you should not post an article about your organization directly. 331dot (talk) 13:29, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
To change your username, you can visit this page for instructions(unless you become blocked, in which case instructions will be provided). 331dot (talk) 13:30, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The relevant criteria for inclusion can be found at WP:NOTABILITY. If your organization can be demonstrated to meet these criteria, the article can be kept. However, the burden of proof is on you to provide this by, for example, providing citations to reliable independent sources that cover it. -- The Anome (talk) 13:30, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Drug Addicts Anonymous should have a presence on wikipedia as it is a recognised 12 step program. Here on Wikipedia there are many 12 step programs from AA, NA, CA, Overeaters Anonymous and Online Gamers Anonymous. DAA should be included in this list.

It is hard for any anonymous fellowship to meet a criteria that requires articles written about it as it is anonymous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drug Addicts Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Unfortunately, those are the rules for inclusion here. Please see 331dot's comment above. -- The Anome (talk) 13:40, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) All of those pages have independent reliable sources demonstrating notability, as The Anome mentions above. Here, each page is judged on its own merits as other things exist. I understand what you are saying about sources, but respectfully that isn't our issue. Wikipedia is not for promotional purposes or raising awareness- subjects must be notable to have a page here. If you cannot demonstrate that, unfortunately it means there cannot be a page here for your organization. That all leaves aside the issue that you should not edit about your own organization. I have described above how you can proceed. If you need assistance or have questions, please ask. 331dot (talk) 13:41, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well how dose an organisation get up here? I do not work for DAA I am a DAA member. A recoverd drug addict that wishes to let other people know about DAA.

This has been described to you above. To have an article here, the organization must be shown to be notable according to the notability guidelines with independent reliable sources. Please review those pages. You need to understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a forum to help the work of the organization. Social media sounds like it would be a better forum for you to do what you wish to do. 331dot (talk) 13:49, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would stress that I commend you for fighting every day to remain drug free and wanting to help others- I only state that this isn't the forum for you to do what you seem to want to do. 331dot (talk) 13:57, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Please don't take any of the above as criticism of either yourself or your organization. -- The Anome (talk) 16:12, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you.
