WikiProject Bangladesh Competition

[edit]

Hi Dwaipayanc, we are about to move to the next phase of the competition that we discussed earlier on WikiProject Bangladesh Outreach page. For this purpose, I have started the Deshipidian 2008 page and have also drafted an email for mass circulation to promote the competition. Please review the page and the draft email and let me know if you have any comments. I'm proposing to circulate the email widely starting February 1, 2008. In addition, we will also try to get some newspaper coverage for wider publicity. Arman (Talk) 09:27, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

[edit]

Hi Dwaipayanc, how are you? Listen can you help me out with this-
I have a problem with a page Ocimum Biosolution or Ocimum Biosolutions (as it should be called). The page(in both forms) has been deleted twice and I'm contesting its deletion here. Can you have a look at this? I'm only asking for your opinion as I have been inactive in wikipedia for some time now. I think you should take a look at this talk page too. --hydkat 11:36, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Street names

[edit]

It is good to have the name of the Bengali book. I will look for it when I go to College Street or in the Book Fair. However, I don't want to get into street pages, except probably selectively. It is a jungle out there with too much fiddling by too many people. When are you getting back to serious contributions? There is hardly anybody new seriously writing about West Bengal. Most of the new people seem to be fiddlers, vey little content is there. I really miss Antorjal. Regards - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 13:16, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:CalcuttaHighCourt.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CalcuttaHighCourt.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vcd jbf.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vcd jbf.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:37, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Yeh that's amazing that editors like Sandy and KNM, who opposed to its previous promotion are now supporting the GA, and Sandy even notes that it can be nominated for FA. However, to have a FA, I have to be present all the time, and I will be thoroughly present only from the 25th. Also, I would like you to be here...:)

When will you be as active as before friend? ShahidTalk2me 11:53, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's saddening!:( I miss you here buddy! You're a brilliant editor! Please try to come more often. BTW, Bengali Language Movement is featured on the main page today. I know you have significantly contributed to it. So congrats, ShahidTalk2me 22:25, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Lagaan

[edit]

Thank you for the nice words! The article in my opinion was ready for an FAC, but, when the subtle points especially about its plot were raised, I felt it wasn't as yet. I was drained by the time I finished working on it till what it is right now.

To my dismay, I realized that the plot section was the only one that I did not work on. This fact, further disheartened me in further improving it and the lack of the movie with me delayed my work on the plot. There are other minor issues (prose, which I know how to work it out as per the concerned reviewer) which can be dealt with, but the plot is where most of the discussion will be on. You may want to read Blnguyen's comments at its FAC discussion for more ideas.

Feel free to pitch in towards improving it and I would love to contribute as much as I can to see it end up as an FA. :) Best regards and nice to meet you. Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 17:04, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've upgraded the bit about the plot, specifically the cricket oriented parts. Unfortunately I couldn't help myself so I wrote a very detailed account of the cricket. Having said that, I wasn't paying much attention to the love story part and can't explain the Radha and Krishna motif. Blnguyen (vote in the photo straw poll) 07:12, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey again!

[edit]

Hi, Nothing much happening with me, just a LOT of work... apart from a few breaks here and there, there's not much going on my end. My contrib to wikipedia came to an end sometime last july :(. But I am doing a bit of research on wiki engines. --hydkat 09:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IPL

[edit]

Only now noticed your message. It's a problem when two editors message me at my absence, I usually don't notice the earlier one.

I see what you're saying regarding the IPL bid and her being the owner of the Mohali Twenty20 franchise, but I have a serious lack of knowledge when it comes to that, and I'm very doubtful about where to place it, when (it is still on going), What is it particularly? How to write it? I'm afraid that my addition will be another incohorent text. If you could help me with it whenever you have time, I would be extremely grateful.

Regards, ShahidTalk2me 14:11, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeh I think it's high time that this article be promoted... OK thanks for the addition... mmm is it all? Don't we have to add the bid etc.? I hope it's OK. Regards, ShahidTalk2me 17:11, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering wheather you can shed some light on the etymology of "Bongo". Thanks.Sumanch (talk) 19:27, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
