Pro career, draft section
I just saw you changed the "2012 NFL Draft" section title to "Pre-draft" on Bryce Brown, while describing this edit as "cleanup". I was wondering if there is any guideline that recommends this, or whether this has be determined in some WikiProject American Football discussion a while ago. I'm just asking, because up until now I named these sections "[year] NFL Draft", and while I'm not against naming them differently, I'd like to know whether this has been discussed anywhere. --bender235 (talk) 01:38, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see much sense in having the pre-draft measurables in a section titled "2012 NFL Draft" since the Combine is well before the draft. For players that don't get drafted, it makes even less sense to have a subsection for their not being drafted. A player's draft placement can go in a subsection, as it flows better that way. There has been no discussion on the matter, just my personal preference. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:45, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Even if the combine (and pro day) is weeks before the actual draft, it is still part of the draft process. One's declaration for the draft (and signing with an agent) usually also occurs months before April, but still is (in my mind) the beginning of one's pro career. And even if a player goes undrafted, he was still available in said draft, making this title much less absurd than you think. Anyway, I think we should probably discuss this with more people at WikiProject American Football, don't you think? --bender235 (talk) 02:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it, but I can't add much to the thread that I haven't already said here. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:08, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Infobox NFL player tweaks
E247, when you have some spare time, would you consider making some quick tweaks to the NFL player infobox? Specifically, could you change the field display names from "Date of birth" to "Birth date," and "Place of birth" to "Birth place?" It's minor, but the inverted syntax is an unnecessary waste of characters and space in a space-limited infobox. When we pack as much information as we do into these tight little infoboxes, a little extra white space makes them a lot easier on the reader's eye and easier to read. Thanks, captain. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:37, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've been busy the past couple weeks, but I think "Date of birth" is standard across many other Wikipedia infoboxes and a change here might override site consensus. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:28, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Like this, buddy!
I thought you might be in need of a chuckle: Like. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 22:52, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Signature and Wikifriends list
I'm sorry you feel that way about my Wikifriends list. It's there to establish that I get along with and know. If you wish to have your name removed then by all means but I still fail to see how this list gives the appearance of a social networking site. Anyways I have also removed you from my April Fools signature setup. Can you provide a reason why you are opposed to it?—cyberpower ChatOnline 23:19, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Same as the first. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:28, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- Umm...Ok. I still don't see how but I will respect your wishes and not add them back.—cyberpower ChatOnline 23:34, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Athlons Sports Magazine and Tommie Frazier photo
Hi Eagles 24/7, It's been a while. I hope you are doing OK. I had been thinking about Tommie Frazier a little bit more - especially when he didn't make the College Football Hall of Fame this past week for the year of 2012. I have been wanting to add a picture of him for some time now. I got in touch with Athlons Sports' editor, Mitch Light, on my cell phone. That went very well. I then emailed him. He replied with a positive email letting me know that I have permission to use this photograph from the 1994 Big Eight Nebraska College Football Annual. Now, I am wondering? Recalling how I was able to use the 89-year old World War II photographer Jack Heyn's permission for one of his photos with an actress, am I supposed to use the same permission form that includes the license (CC-BY-SA 3.0, etc.) for Mitch Light and Athlons Sports as well - and then forward it to commons-permissions@wikimedia.org? Or is there another way about going with it when you deal with a magazine company? I imagine one format fits all...? I guess that Mitch would be the one to sign off on the form to OK it. I'll just listen and see what you have to say. Thanks. Rod Hayes (talk) 18:41, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think you can send him the same type of e-mail as before. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:53, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll get onto it in a little while. Got to go excercise and run right now. Rod Hayes (talk) 20:04, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, I have this in progress now. I sent the initial email to permissions-commons. I also sent the questionnaire form that includes the listing of a standard license. I explained about the CC-BY-SA 3.0, but I didn't go into detail about the other options with Mitch Light. I can. I'll just wait for his feedback. Hopefully I can still remember everything I did with uploading on Wikimedia - which I'll attempt to do tomorrow when I receive the fill-out form from Athlons. Inactive RfAs
I used to see you do this a lot, so I figured I'd bring it up here so that you or another admin tps can take care of it. There are a number or inactive RfAs listed at User:TParis/Tally, and the OCD in me screams that they need to be dealt with. Unless something has changed, and we now allow those pages to languish indefinitely, could you or another notify the editors involved and then delete those pages? Nolelover Talk·Contribs 17:09, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I'm a bit inactive on Wikipedia right now. The notification template's now at Template:RfA query with instructions if you'd like to handle the notification part for me. In a week, you can let me (or another admin if my inactivity gets worse) know which pages need to be deleted. Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:20, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Completely understand. I'll post at AN or the like in a week. Cheers, and best of luck in RL. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 17:25, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
