Raymond Scott photos

[edit]

I undid your Raymond Scott photo entries for two reasons. In the course of adding the photos and captions, you disrupted the formatting of existing text in one section and it could not be repaired without undoing your entries. When adding information and graphics to existing entries, please be careful to leave previous text properly formatted, in other words, the way you found it. Secondly, half of the photos you posted do not feature the subject of this article, Raymond Scott. Please limit photos to those which depict the subject. Thank you. If you want to restore any of those photos, again, please be careful of existing text formatting. Scottfan1 (talk) 04:33, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm new to Wikipedia The photos are all of famous members of his Quintette/Band, taken during a performance. The article is very much concerned with both Scott and his bands. If the photos disrupted the text format- sorry- I wish you had merely moved them to the bottom of the article, as I think Scott fans worldwide would have enjoyed seeing them. When I re-post the images, that is where i will put them.

Great. I'll check the formatting after you place them. If you're new to wiki, welcome. You should take some time to study wiki protocols, including the "four tildes" to sign your talk entries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signatures I recommend you leave out the band photos that do not include Scott. His bands are mentioned in the article, but the page is devoted to him, not his sidemen. You also have the option of starting a new page devoted to the Raymond Scott Orchestra. I've long felt there should be one devoted to his Quintette. Scottfan1 (talk) 21:38, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I am too senile - or too much of a moron - to figure out how to start a new page!! I think I will go back to just being a Wikipedia observor!!!! Enter1your1information1below (talk) 22:11, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be discouraged. Editing wiki pages can be fun and educational. Accept the challenge! Scottfan1 (talk) 03:00, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Come to think of it, you should do the Scott Quint page, then I will supply some of the photos!!!

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Mr. & Mrs. Sidney Drew may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • Sidney Drew and Lucile McVey (the second Mrs. Sidney Drew) in 1917]]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Felix Adler (screenwriter) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Surprised

[edit]

Hi. I was surprised to see that you removed this image, after you added it,

File:F hugh herbert there you are ! dj.jpg
There You Are !

from Hugh Herbert's article. It looked good to me. --Greenmaven (talk) 08:05, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks... I thought 1. Maybe the entry's 1st image should be of Herbert himself, and not of an early novel of his 2. While the image is a scan of a book I own, I was not sure of copyright. 3. Gosh, it sure was cold outside yesterday

Enter1your1information1below (talk) 14:51, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What is the publication date of the book? --Greenmaven (talk) 19:47, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Binksternet. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Billie Ritchie without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Chaplin

[edit]

Hi Enter1your1information1below, as you have edited Edna Purviance I thought we should tell you about this Saturday's editathon at the Cinema Museum in London. The main focus will be the Tramp as it comes up to the centenary of its release, but other Chaplin related articles may well get changed, especially as the Chaplin Association has promised to allow us to photograph some of the exhibits that they have loaned to the museum. There will be some film experts and several experienced Wikipedians at the event, and there is a talkpage for any queries, special requests for photographs or things to check in the reference sources available at the museum. And of course if you are anywhere near London you would be very welcome to come along. Regards Jonathan Cardy (WMUK) (talk) 16:36, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
