September 13, 2015 Brown Bear Danny High 62 years High was walking his neighbor's dog in Funny River, Alaska when he was attacked by a brown bear. His injuries were extensive but he survived. [3][4]
August 8, 2015 Black Bear Laurie Cooksey 52 years Cooksey was attacked by a black bear in Douthat State Park in Millboro, Virginia. She was hiking with her children when the bear charged and attacked her. She survived with minor injuries. [5][6]
July 25, 2008 Black Bear Allena Hansen 56 years Hansen was walking her dogs in Kern County, California when a black bear attacked and severely injured her. She survived but has extensive permanent effects. [7][8]
