Notes on editing and civility

[edit]

Hi there. As you might have noted on the IP's talk page you just commented on, I've asked them to be more civil in how they communicate with other editors here, and I'd also like to ask you to try to keep civil when disputes crop up.

Also, with regards to the addition you're trying to make to the school article, the general guideline for Wikipedia articles is that unless a person has their own article, they should not be included in a list of alumni, famous residents, etc. Those lists are for people who are credibly notable enough to have an article that can be linked. The young man in your link certainly looks to be on the rise in his sport, but until multiple reliable sources have covered him, he won't be notable for inclusion here.

Finally, I don't think anyone's given you a welcome note previously, so I'll do that below - it will include some links and tutorials that will help you navigate editing here more easily. Cheers! Tony Fox (arf!) 21:01, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ewalx

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Meatsgains, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Dave McGowan (musician), for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Meatsgains}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Dave McGowan (musician) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Dave McGowan (musician), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hey!

[edit]

It's been a little under a week (if I realized it hadn't been a week yet, I would've given you that much time) since you restored Harvey Williams (musician) to mainspace before making no more changes. As this is a BLP, it needs to be sourced well, and sourced properly. It wasn't. I saw you said his solo work needed coverage – feel free to restore the article, but make sure you actually include reliably sourced information on his non-Another Sunny Day solo work. I have no objections to a properly written and sourced article of Williams' being in mainspace (and if you think you can pull it off, I encourage you to!), but as-is, especially with BLP concerns, it did not meet mainspace standards. (You can always work on it in draftspace if you like.) Skarmory (talk • contribs) 07:09, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Dave McGowan (musician)

[edit]

Hello, Ewalx. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dave McGowan".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 05:08, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
