Translations

[edit]

Hi, Flipturner, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw your edit at WP:Translators available, and wanted to thank you for volunteering. I occasionally translate from German (more often from French) and need help sometimes when there's some squirrely syntax, jargon, neologisms compound nouns not easy to look up, or other difficulties. Would be nice to be able to call on you from time to time.

One article which involved sme German translation was War guilt question. This is a dual translation, mostly from French, partly from German (much of the French article was translated from the German one, but not all of it), and some of it is copied from other en-wiki articles. (Expand the copy/translation banner on the Talk page to see the sources.) For some of the issues I encountered, I used the {{clarify span}} tag with param |reason= to provide a hover tooltip (not on mobile) showing what the difficulty was. There are two of these in the #Contemporary research section. There's probably a lot more that I didn't tag, but these are the two that jump out at me. Thanks, and once again, welcome!
