Image copyright problem with Image:Richard hughes.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Richard hughes.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. feydey 23:25, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Keane articles
[edit]Hey, good work keeping up with the Keane articles. Here's the issue: there's no current need to separate the articles by CD 1 and CD 2, we can do that in the song articles. The problem is that some countries will have maxi-singles, others none issued at all, so it's easier to keep all the info in one place.
Thanks for the help, keep up the good work. --badlydrawnjeff (WP:MEMES?) 22:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Can I also suggest not making separate articles for the songs and singles? No other band has that. Thanks. --badlydrawnjeff (WP:MEMES?) 22:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- What's your rationale for continuing to do this? Can we try to reach some sort of concensus here? --badlydrawnjeff (WP:MEMES?) 23:12, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

LOOK!
[edit]A COOKIE for you! Now, start paying as much attention to image copyrights as you do to Keane! Please ask me for help if you need it - I'd be happy to assist a fellow wikiteen. :) Regardless, please please please start adding copyright tags - users have been blocked for uploading lots of tagless images, and I wouldn't want that to happen to you. Your fair use rationale was spectacular, however. Next time just add the tag, too! Verloren Hoop 03:21, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:WMAWBS.jpg)
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:WMAWBS.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cholmes75 (chit chat) 18:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

That's great...being the first person from the American Continent to hear UTIS!!!! Anyway are you a follower of football? If you are then I must say that was a great win over Iran 3-1! England too won their match vs Paraguay but then with only one goal that to Paraguay's own goal...but the most important thing is we won!Victoria Eleanor 14:46, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]You've made full use of being a Wikipedian. Good work!Victoria Eleanor 15:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]For your best wishes to England. Same to Mexico! Actually people in England are just into football when it comes to sports, but where I come from, it's a little more of cricket than football. And nevermind the barnstar...barnstars are given to people who deserve them and you're one of them..I mean starting so many articles of music singles is definately not a joke. I just start biographies of artists and I don't think i'd be able to start articles on singles....so thumbs up to you!Victoria Eleanor 14:59, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Polyforum Cultural
[edit]So you're Mexican, huh? Well it's good to have you here, even if you do seem to be having trouble with image licensing.
I saw Image:MexicoWTC.jpg, which you uploaded. It is a fantastic picture, but you tagged it as public domain and then gave a fair use rationale. These are two totally different licenses. If you have to give a rationale, it is a pretty good indication that the image is not in the public domain.
I just want to point out two other small things: First, you say "The image does not have apparent copyright". It may be true that there is no little "c" in a circle, but in fact, most images, regardless of whether or not they are marked as copyrighted, are in fact copyrighted. So the apparency of a copyright has no bearing on whether or not an image actually is copyrighted.
Secondly, you state, "Anyway, you can stop at the middle of Insurgentes and shot the picture".
That is precisely the point behind Wikipedia. It is about people taking individual initiative to increase the accessibility of humanity's knowledge via the creation of a free and universal encyclopedia. That initiative includes not only vandalfighters, bureaucrats, editors, and wikignomes and faries, but also photographers. So if it is so easy, then take the picture on your own camera, and if you have the graciousness, upload it and release it under the terms of the GFDL. Since it will be your picture, you will be the copyright owner, and you will be allowed to do what you want with that right, including releasing it to the world. That's how we make a better encyclopedia, and it's also why Wikipedia has some of the most unique images on the web.
I'm going to tag it {{PUIdisputed}} and list it on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images, where the discussion will be held. I invite you to drop in there, or on my talkpage, to discuss.
Thanks for your contributions, --Rockero 01:47, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey Fluence. I edited the Richard Hughes article today. I changed the references from "Richard" to "Hughes" because it's more encyclopedic. I also rephrased the last sentence of the 2nd paragraph; let me know if I captured the meaning right. Also, a clarification question: did Hughes write "Put it Behind You" or did another band member write it about him? JordeeBec 16:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

We Lost...and Brazil lost too!!!
[edit]I feel like killing Rooney just now for his stupid foul and it's high time Beckham quits captaincy[which he has actually] but i'm more surprised at the fact that Brazil went down to France 1-0. So basically me and my friends, we partied whole night, not because we lost but because Brazil are finally out of the World Cup!! Now my only hope is Germany. Hopefully they'll win! See you around.Victoria Eleanor 15:26, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey there thanks for the stats. I had absolutely no idea about them! Today's the semifinal. God i'm so tense. Keep your fingers crossed!!Victoria Eleanor 14:54, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
And Germany too...(Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!)
[edit]I can't belive it myself! Now i'm kind of neutral. I'm not supporting any team though so i'll just be predicting the scores and waste my time doing that! Well since your supporting France for a cool reason(Renault cars), I wish you luck on that!Victoria Eleanor 15:00, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Rare Keanes Song
[edit]I have found Rare Keanes song called "The Man Who Bum Crow" and wondered whether you know about this? I can maybe let you have this if you reply here - it is the sad song of a homeless. I saw your profile and that you like Keans and maybe I can help ^_^
- Hi
I've look for it on the official Keane forum and it doesn't appear. Maybe is from one of those other bands or people called keane (e.g. Keane Brothers). Would be nice if you tell me where did you find this:)--Fluence 22:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
PS. I erased the fact about Tom's face. I think is sort of offensive despite he's not my favourite member but sometimes this little details can get worse if published
- You have to admit he has a really big face though
Thank you so much!
[edit]Thanks for the Barnstar! I hadn't even expected one! It's such a great surprise and i'm so happy you were able to understand my contributions to music[my life]! As for helping you in getting featured status for Keane you can count on me any time mate!Victoria Eleanor 16:11, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
P.S- Sorry about the French defeat. But when there is a hope there is a way! Hopefully we will perform better in 2010!
Fair use rationale for Image:Distribuidorvial.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Distribuidorvial.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 10:53, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi!!!
[edit]Sorry I could'nt keep in touch, I was kind of busy the past week. Anyway I saw Tim's pic and I think it's really cool, a lot better than the previous one! Moreover i'm so happy that the tim rice-oxley page has got a lot of feedback! I had never imagined so many users coming in and adding info to an article which I started!! You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 16:16, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use disputed for Image:Titltfp.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Titltfp.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 18:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Sowkkeane.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sowkkeane.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wizardman 21:00, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. Regarding this and this change, note that my changes are in line with the current guidelines. See specifically WP:ALBUM#Chronology about not including album covers in chronologies, and WP:FUC from which it follows that single covers should not be used for decoration. For these reasons I'm reverting your revert. Have a nice day. --PEJL 00:19, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Great! --PEJL 00:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I see also you made this change. Note that many of the changes there go against current guidelines and conventions. I've reverted the parts which clearly do so here. I would ask you to review that change, so that you can avoid making such changes in the future. Thank you. --PEJL 07:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, that's fine. --PEJL 23:34, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Keane-We_Might_as_Well_Be_Strangers.ogg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Keane-We_Might_as_Well_Be_Strangers.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 19:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Image:Keane-Somewhere_Only_We_Know.ogg
[edit]I have tagged Image:Keane-Somewhere_Only_We_Know.ogg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. BigrTex 19:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Keane-WMAWBSLive.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Keane-Wemightaswellbestrangers.jpg. The copy called Image:Keane-Wemightaswellbestrangers.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 22:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use policy
[edit]It appears that you do not understand our fair use policy. Multiple fair use files on an article violate the "must significantly improve the encyclopedia" clause. You also seem to be quite emotional about the subject of Keane (band). Perhaps it would be a good idea to not upload any more files of that time, as threatening to disrupt the project with a WP:POINT is not helpful (I refer to your statement to ST47 that if he deleted a file you would simply re-upload it). ⇒ SWATJester Denny Crane. 04:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Keane (band)
[edit]Why the flag? What encyclopedic purpose does it serve? --John 22:36, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- You didn't answer the question. Can you please give a reason? A consensus or a policy would be ideal but failing that your own reason for thinking it adds to the article would be a start. --John 22:53, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. One of the problems we have with UK bands and people is the difference between England and UK; they don't mean the same. I don't know if you are familiar with this, but it can cause a lot of (unnecessary) hassle, without offering any extra functionality in return. In effect these flags are decoration, and a form of decoration which causes edit-wars and oversimplifies nationality. There is mor on this at WP:FLAGCRUFT if you are interested. --John 16:11, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey
[edit]I've posted something on his page. I wouldn't be surprised if he vandalises my page in the future. I'll help you in the picture thing. Just tell me what to do...Jade1984 08:45, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- With respect Jade, Fluence, User:ST47 should probably not be insulted lightly. Calling not only an admin, but an admin
with checkuser privilegesand checkuser clerk, who have been voted to those positions by other people, is a quick way to earn warnings. The chances of an admin vandalising any page is incredibly low. --Dreaded Walrus t c 11:05, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
