Mirrors[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Nuer people. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Copyright problem icon Your edit to Nuer Genocide has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for information on how to contribute your work appropriately. For legal reasons, Wikipedia strictly cannot host copyrighted text or images from print media or digital platforms without an appropriate and verifiable license. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to move pages to bad titles contrary to naming conventions or consensus, as you did at Nuer massacre, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not move this again; you need consensus. See WP:RM. Drmies (talk) 17:31, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Drmies First of all, I am the creator of the article and this work is in collaboration with Nuer People. Secondly, the original title is Nuer Genocide, some body moved it to Nuer Massacre then i moved it back to Nuer Genocide because that's what the article is about and how the Human Right Watch and other international communities termed and warned of happening to Nuer people at the time of the event.
You don't have to threaten me of blocking. This article is about an event that actually happened. Do you work for the genocidal government of South Sudan? because they have been killing, threatening and silencing Journalists for reporting the Genocide accurately. This article is a work of Nuer People, if the title cannot be Nuer Genocide for whatever reason you guys think, please nominate this article for quick deletion right now and notify me. Gatwech Gai (talk) 03:15, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Do you work for the genocidal government of South Sudan?" Grow up. Drmies (talk) 19:59, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

June 2024[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make personal attacks on other people, as you did at Talk:Nuer massacre#Using the "Genocide" description. Comment on content, not on fellow editors. FuzzyMagma (talk) 09:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@FuzzyMagma its all good buddy, I got you. Gatwech Gai (talk) 09:18, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, and please amend your comment on the page. It does reflect very well on you. We are all here to support and help each other, and these things happens. Learn from it and move in.
I hope to see more of your work in the future. WP:South Sudan needs passionate (not to passionate though) editors like you FuzzyMagma (talk) 10:05, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will Gatwech Gai (talk) 22:47, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Juba Nuer Massacre, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. You need to wait for the discussion to ends and you need to integrate the two articles properly. FuzzyMagma (talk) 18:52, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the discussion has been going on for a while now it's clear that it has ended for more editor agrees that Juba Nuer Massacre be merged into Nuer massacre. If my merging doesn't seem to be constructive, then you may need to merge it yourself, I'm ok with that.
And why you think this article need Wikipedia:Blow it up and start over? what is it really about you with the article? This article covered the event extensively like no other and you having a problem with it just don't seem right. Gatwech Gai (talk) 23:29, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, it doesn’t work this way. And the way you merged the article is wrong so just wait if you are not familiar with process.
TNT for the language that you use, this is not the place for editorialising. You clearly missing the point here and I am yet to cross-check the sources but in case we found that you exaggerated or misrepresented the facts as they are written in these sources, then TNT might be the only way
have a read through articles like the Holocaust and compare the different in the style. See how editors here write FuzzyMagma (talk) 07:42, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i may not be really familiar with merging the articles correctly. I will learn.
Sorry for misunderstanding what the TNT stand for. Is ok for any Wikipedian to fix any section that doesn't sound well, but not deny what is being explained. Far as I'm concerned and the sources, there is no exageration in this article, anything written is directly from the source, non of these is my opinion. Make sure you check the offline sources (books like Bloody Nile, South Sudan: Untold story, Nuer Nation etc) as well, because these are the books written by eye witnesses and plainly described what happened and how it happened. Gatwech Gai (talk) 19:57, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I need some help with question not related to this article.
How do I link related articles to each other to avoid "orphan article"?@FuzzyMagma Thanks in advance. Gatwech Gai (talk) 19:59, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
for linking the articles, it is as you do normally. You wikilink in the appropriate relevant articles as you did in the Nuer massacre article. These tags of orphan need to be removed manually sometimes. FuzzyMagma (talk) 20:40, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
if you citing an opinion from a source that might be biased or its reliability might be contest, it is better to say "According to X, a historian at the University of Y, the attack was ..." or something in this vein. Just to distance Wikipedia from being biased.
The 2 of these 3 sources that you have shared can all be easily contested and seen as biased; thus, it might be better just to convey what they say. See WP:WIKIVOICE for more details.
No one is denying the atrocities and we all know how hard it is to be neutral in these situation, but we try.
I still think you should The Holocaust, just to understand how to approach these topic. FuzzyMagma (talk) 20:39, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Thanks. Gatwech Gai (talk) 21:36, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I wanted to let you know that in your recent contributions, you seemed to act as if you were the owner of a page. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. This means that editors do not own articles, including ones they create, and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please do not revert my edit without first addressing the issues on the talk. I think I have warned enough by now FuzzyMagma (talk) 17:46, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gatwech Gai feel free to continue fix the article especially the duplicated information but as I explained above, you do not own the article. FuzzyMagma (talk) 17:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The part that i removed seemed to be disruptive editing as per Wikipedia:Disruptive editing, you shuffled some section, erased part of paragraphs and leaved them with just some templates while failing to provide citation. You must provide citation for your contribution instead of adding too many template and making the article unreadable. One of the core Wikipedia policy is to provide citation. And yes i know any one is welcome to contribute including me.
If you had revised the article careful before reverting it, you would have noticed that i picked up on the summary that you started and fixed almost everything, added more citations, removed the duplicated part and added new paragraphs. Now its back to unreadable article again making the editing more complicated and time consuming. Gatwech Gai (talk) 03:28, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn’t do that, in every edit I provided a description of what I did and link the edit to a section on talk (see the page talk). You either do not understand what disruptive means or you just don’t want people to touch “your” article both of which are problematic. Don’t try to “game” the system or weaponise policies. Just take the advice, work on improving the article and learn.
I have nothing personal with you, and as I said ages ago, we need more editors to write about South Sudan but that need to be within policies.
Going back to the article, you still removed some of my tags that are linked to a section in the talk without providing an explanation. These tags and section on the talk are done to avoid warring. The more you ignore them the closer you get to be blocked.
again, you don’t own anything here, and you need to be open to discussions and learning.
I’m tired of having to do everything twice! This started with name of the article (genocide < massacre) and your behaviour when it comes to listening has not changed. This need to change now! FuzzyMagma (talk) 08:42, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I might have been out of line earlier but that has changed. Right now, we are both committed to improving this article and making Wikipedia a better place and that's what really matter. Your contribution to Nuer massacre is appreciated and yes I will be helping improving the Nuer people, Dinka people etc and other articles on other ethnic groups in South Sudan that are not yet on Wikipedia.
