Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, GlamisCastle, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or in other media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask a question on your talk page. Again, welcome.  Linguist111 18:40, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Bowes-Lyon" vs "Bowes Lyon"

[edit]

Hi. Wikipedia is based on sources not assertions and you have not given any. Your name suggests a link to the subject that would suggest you should be able to locate a valid reliable reference (but please also note our Conflict of interest policy: WP:COI). Also your edits broke many wiki-links (links to other articles), categories and images on multiple pages which is not acceptable and thus reverted. If you have a valid source for your assertion you could ask at Wikipedia:Teahouse or Wikipedia:Help desk for help in correcting across the numerous articles this would affect, including page moves to new names. However after looking at existing sources both "Bowes-Lyon" and "Bowes Lyon" are used so its not clear which is correct or if like many historical names, both where used interchangeably. I have not been able to locate a WP:RS for either form. Also note this account may be blocked due to user naming policies (implying shared use), but this advice stands if you chose to create a new acceptable personal account. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:54, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
