[edit]

Hi and welcome, thanks for message. If you recreate, you should make sure that you

  • provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines.
  • write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
  • Make sure it's not just about what the company sells. How many employees? Turnover? Profits? Has the company ever received negative publicity? Who are its competitors?
  • The article is written in your own words. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. Thank you for declaring your interest. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your organisation is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.
  • Bear in mind that anyone will be able to edit the article, you do not own it. It is not a message board for your company.

Good luck, I'll be watching (: Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:41, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not in the way you mean. The Wikipedia search box will find, for example, other articles that mention Minitech, but you will have to use your browser's search facility to search within the article. A table of contents will automatically be generated once you have more than three sections (unless you have disabled this), so if you structure your article well it should help. You can externally link to a particular section like this, or within Wikipedia like this Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:28, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Gmninja97. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Minitech Machinery, Corporation, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:05, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you work on a draft here first? You also need to put references in-line so that we can see what fact each reference is supporting. If the claim is anything giving an opinion rather than a hard fact, it needs independent sources. If you can't find good independent sources, your company isn't notable enough.

Looking at just the start of your article, the following are unsourced claims presented as fact. worldwide manufacturer... full line of accessories... an innovator... forefronts of biological research... All the benefits of large machines could thus be offered to more customers... Small manufacturers were able to produce their products inexpensively... and so on throughout the article. It's a sales leaflet, not an encyclopaedia article.

Minitech is a small company with only three employees — so you definitely need independent references to show how it meets the notability criteria above. Other than the CEO, the other roles aren't notable enough for descriptions of their roles. Detailed descriptions of individual products are also probably counter-productive.

If you are going to persevere, you need to get it right, which is why I'm suggesting sandboxing your draft. The article can be protected from recreation, or you can be blocked from editing. Note admin JamesBWatson's comment above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:47, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's the least of your problems.

  • Your priority should be to remove the spammy claims as I've indicated above. As long as they are there, your article could be deleted as promotion, even in a sandbox
  • Secondly, you need some independent references to show that your company is notable. As long as the article relies only on your website, it could be deleted for lack of notability once it leaves your sandbox
  • You need in-line references so that we can verify each claim you make (for example, you could keep the worldwide claim if you could reference it to an independent reputable source
  • The more you say about the products, the more likely the article is to be deleted as spam. You only compound that by listing them again in the sidebar. There shouldn't be any url links in the text or sidebar. If products are linked from the article or sidebar, I will delete it.
  • Not directly related, but it's good practice to keep sidebar content to a minimum anyway

You can't have url links in the article. You could move them to external links, and write about the customers in the text, but, like too much detail on products, the more you put, the spammier it will look. As I keep saying, your main priorities should be to find some independent references and clean up the existing text, or it will never get out of the sandbox alive. The page User:Gmninja97/sandbox has been deleted. It was even more promotional in content than the last version of the deleted article. While more leeway is permitted for the contents of a draft in userspace than would be the case for a finished article, a page which is thoroughly promotional from start to finish is unacceptable anywhere, especially when several months have gone by with no improvement. As has already been explained to you, adding promotional content to Wikipedia can lead to being blocked from editing, and you may well be blocked without further warning if you do so again.
