[edit]Hello, I'm Alivardi. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Baghel Singh, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Alivardi (talk) 17:15, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at Hari Singh Nalwa, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Alivardi (talk) 14:42, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm S0091. I noticed that you recently removed content from Ranjit Singh without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
Hi Grangjatt, it is probably best to start a discussion on the article's talk page so you can gain consensus for your changes. S0091 (talk) 19:47, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

Insertion of the term "Jat" and removal of the term "Muslim" "Hindu"

Such distinction between Jat and Muslim Hindu need to be discussed and agreed by contributors. The encyclopedia is not a battleground for nationalist semantics. LessHeard vanU (talk) 14:49, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- I apologise for inserting the term 'Muslim' when I should have noted 'Hindu'; I have struck and amended my previous comment and heading. Regardless, you are apparently editing to an agenda and without discussion and would strongly suggest you desist from doing so, LessHeard vanU (talk) 15:10, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LessHeard vanU what happened sir. hindu. muslim which agenda. I am not interested in it Grangjatt (talk) 15:46, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LessHeard vanU hindu is religion and Jat is caste. I mention Jat caste only Grangjatt (talk) 19:41, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- The encyclopedia is read by people who wish to learn about a subject - while adding material can be beneficial, it should not be done so at the expense of other material which likely more easily and readily understood. Hinduism as a religion peculiar to the Indian subcontinent and recognised as such. It is also considered a culture of ancient and recent history, whereas the caste system is not known or poorly understood outside of India and neighbouring countries. Substituting Jat for Hindu, or removing Hindu from the text is likely to confuse the casual user. If a discussion is opened with other editors about the appropriate degree of linking to the caste, or indicating in the text why the caste is especially relavent to the subject, then this would resolve the issue. I trust I have made clear why it is important to include all appropriate information, and not removing existing text. LessHeard vanU (talk) 14:36, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LessHeard vanU ok if you have problem with religion then I have not changed it... Grangjatt (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- I have no issue with the religion, but am advising you that it is a better indicator of the culture of the subject than that of a name of a caste. Noting Jat in regard to an individual or dynasty should be sufficient to allow interested parties to click the link, but removing Hindu lowers the quality of the article. LessHeard vanU (talk) 15:10, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- @LessHeard vanU Jat is caste not religion. you find jat caste in hindu. sikh. muslim easily in India & Pakistan... Grangjatt (talk) 15:34, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- My last comment here is that Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim are understood in the English speaking countries as a culture as well as a religion (certain styles of literature, art, and clothing styles are thought as being particular to one or other) and also a geographical location - whereas only those English speakers who are very familiar with Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi culture via contact are even aware of the caste system and, such as I, have no depth of understanding of it. Of itself, the word Jat does not inform the reader about the subject. The religion and its region does. Therefore the latter must be kept. LessHeard vanU (talk) 15:52, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
