Did you know...

Did you know that you are a member of Category:Female Wikipedians (yeah!) but your Internationalisation preference is not set to "She edits wiki pages"? You can change that if you wish. (Remember to scroll down and click "Save" if you do.) Lightbreather (talk) 00:01, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Got it - thanks. Hmlarson (talk) 18:30, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 15

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Holly Hein, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Test Kaffeeklatsch area for women-only

Since WikiProject Women as proposed at the IdeaLab may take some time to realize, and based on a discussion on the proposal's talk page, I have started a test Kaffeeklatsch area for women (cisgender or trans-woman, regardless of sexual orientation) only. If interested, your participation would be most welcome. Lightbreather (talk) 19:35, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Category:Dayton University alumni

Just to let you know I have moved the contents of Category:Dayton University alumni to the existing Category:University of Dayton alumni. I hope I have left the contents intact.Ottawahitech (talk) 15:24, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

@Ottawahitech: Thanks for the heads-up. Hmlarson (talk) 20:05, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Update on the Kaffeeklatsch test area

The MfD for the Kaffeeklatsch was closed with the result page kept,[1] and this notice[2] re the WMF non discrimination policy was put on my page by Harej. (In a nutshell, the klatsch does not violate the policy.)

I don't know how the proposed WikiProject Women at the IdeaLab will fare, but one step at a time, I guess. Lightbreather (talk) 01:20, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Presentation proposal for Wikimania 2015

How to pick up more women...
Hello! Victuallers and I have developed a proposal for a talk to be presented at Wikimania 2015. It's titled, How to pick up more women -- as in more women editors and more women's biographies. Examples include the Edit-a-thon blitz during WikiWomen's History Month and the "new articles" work underway by WikiProject Women Writers. The Wikimania talk proposal review process has begun and there's no guarantee that this proposal will be accepted. That's where you come in. Please review our proposal and give us feedback. Ultimately, we hope you add your name to the signup at the bottom of the proposal which signifies you're interested in the talk (it does not signify you'll be attending the event). Thank you! Rosiestep (talk) 22:15, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
@Rosiestep:. Thank you. Personally, I do not agree with the title - but would be interested in "attending." Hmlarson (talk) 20:36, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Since Victuallers suggested the title, it has brought up a lot of conversation, some saying it is controversial and the like, or just plain disagreeing with it. The important part, is the dialogue about the topic of more women editors, and more articles about women. And if the title helps with creating conversation about the topic, then mission accomplished... although there are also a lot of suggestions for other titles. Thank you, Hmlarson for sharing your thoughts. And please do add your name to the submission if you think the talk should be included at Wikimania. Also, if you have any other thoughts about the talk's topics, please do share!! Cheers, --Rosiestep (talk) 15:18, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

2015 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification

Hi there, I would like yor opinion about the qualification. I am planning to create player articles for goalscorers in the qualificaton in all association. Question is, with them playing in the qualification matches, does it make them notable? As I understood, based on WP:NFOOTY, as they played in official FIFA matches, they would be notable. Cheers!! MbahGondrong (talk) 23:44, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

@MbahGondrong:Hi! Yes, that's correct. WP:GNG may also apply. In either case, as long as you make sure to use good references to support the article and you should be good. Hmlarson (talk) 23:53, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Precious again

TWL Questia check-in

Hello!

You are receiving this message because The Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to Questia. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your Questia account; if you are having trouble feel free to get in touch.
  • When your account expires you can reapply for access at WP:Questia.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed.
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, email us and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services The Wikipedia Library can offer.

Newspapers.com access

Hi Hmlarson,

Thanks for getting back to me re Newspapers.com. The signup process for Wikipedia Library accounts requires you to 1) register at the Newspapers.com site and 2) fill in a short Google form in order to complete your registration. The links to both registration and form are in the Wikipedia email you received in May. I don't have any record of your having completed the Google form. Do you currently have full access to Newspapers.com content? Thanks HazelAB (talk) 21:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

@HazelAB:Hmm... maybe I forgot to submit Google form - I'm not sure, but just did just in case a few minutes ago. Newspapers.com account was created 5/19. Hmlarson (talk) 23:07, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Your account has been activated so you should have full access now. HazelAB (talk) 16:14, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

You're invited to the Ally Skills Workshop at Wikimania!

Thank you for contributing to the grant request for training Wikipedia admins to be more aware of sexism! This grant has been approved in pilot form, and the Ada Initiative is running an Ally Skills Workshop at Wikimania 2015. This workshop will focus on teaching specific skills and techniques directly relevant to Wikipedia admins and editors, and in particular will teach people about the psychology of trolls. The workshop will be on Thursday July 16 from 2pm to 5pm in Don Diego 3.

If you are attending Wikimania, you are invited to apply to the Ally Skills Workshop! Space is limited and we may not be able to accept all applications, so apply now. More information, including a link to the application form, is here:

Ally Skills Workshop description and application form

People of all genders are welcome to attend. Unfortunately, travel scholarships for Wikimania are already closed and we don't know of any other sources of travel funding. If you know anyone else attending Wikimania who might be interested in attending this workshop, please encourage them to apply!

Thank you for your time,

Valerie Aurora (Instructor and Interim Executive Director of the Ada Initiative)

Hi. I merely moved the title to after References, so the link from the Contents will take the user to the end of the articles where categories are located. It is possible I have inadvertently removed some links. I will double-check. Thank you for your message.Harvardton (talk) 11:14, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
