Nationality and Citizenship[edit]

I'll be interested to see if others agree with your edit to Mies van der Rohe. I understand your logic but it is very difficult to separate the concept of nationality from that of citizenship. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 13:06, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It would be helpful to refer to the following page which adumbrates my contention: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citizenship_and_nationality#:~:text=Citizenship%20is%20a%20legal%20status,a%20city%20or%20a%20state.&text=Nationality%2C%20on%20the%20other%20hand,is%20called%20a%20natural%20phenomenon. Horapollon Eustathius (talk) 17:26, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I hope that reading this page will help elucidate why in this particular case it does makes sense to dichotomise nationality and citizenship. To cite the page: "essentially, an individual is able to change his/her nationality through nationalization, citizenship by descent or inheritance of nationality from parents." Neither of these two mechanisms, of accquiring American nationality, apply to Mies van der Rohe. Horapollon Eustathius (talk) 17:26, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I do indeed think it makes sense, which is why I thanked you for doing it.
I wonder if US law differs from UK law on this one, the topic is rather murky this side of the pond for reasons that wo By the way, I notice that the article you referenced, Wikipedia:Citizenship and nationality, is a failed policy proposal so it may not be so clear cut. But let's see if anyone objects before we spend a lot of time marshalling the counter arguments, so far no-one has.
By the way, when you want to establish a link to another article on Wikipedia, Nationality for example, you surround it with a two square brackets on either side which gives you Nationality. If you want to link to section or subsection in an article, Conferment of nationality in Nationality for example, you write it as Nationality#Conferment of nationality, again surrounded by pairs of square brackets, to produce this: Nationality#Conferment of nationality. Finally, you cannot cite a Wikipedia article to support a statement made in another article (though it mainly ok in an article talk page), you have to find a reliable source. I'm only saying this because you may want to look at Nationality#Nationality versus national identity, which makes a series of unsupported assertions. Have fun! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:24, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

list of countries by gdp (nominal)[edit]

I am not completely sure if it's a mistake, but a ctrl+f search on the source text for the article on Germany returns two instances of 'list of countries by gdp (nominal)' now. JackTheSecond (talk) 23:50, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the second instance? Horapollon Eustathius (talk) 00:04, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see where the problem arose. I will correct it swiftly. Horapollon Eustathius (talk) 00:08, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the second instance of 'list of countries by GDP (nominal);' however, I am not sure if that reduces clarity regarding where the information is coming from? Horapollon Eustathius (talk) 00:11, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the point was made in a better way on the article's talk page by now. Sorry for the confusion on that. JackTheSecond (talk) 03:53, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
