Non-free use disputed for Image:1918_Private_BenGurion_volunteer_in_Jewish_Legion.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:1918_Private_BenGurion_volunteer_in_Jewish_Legion.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 13:02, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:1938_Interior_of_Berlin_synagogue_after_Kristallnacht.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:1938_Interior_of_Berlin_synagogue_after_Kristallnacht.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 13:02, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:19450420_Hitler_65bd_awards_HJ_Iron_Cross.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Secondary antisemitism
Regarding your notes on my proposal at Talk:Antisemitism. I've followed your suggestion and prepared a stub at User:AldeBaer/Secondary antisemitism (workbench). I'd like to invite you to occasionally drop by and give me more notes. I appreciate any advice you might have. Also, please don't hesitate to edit that page or just tell me how I should tweak it before creating the article. Best regards, —AldeBaer (c) 01:40, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Request for help
Humus, we are having a dispute at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Joseph_McCarthy#Cause_of_death.
There is one argument insisting on adding speculation to the official corner's cause of death. The other argument is that there are two references in the article regarding McCarthy's death. One is in the intro (the one that one side thinks should state pure fact) and the other is in the "Final years" section where there is speculation from anti-McCarthy biographers that he died because of alcohol consumption. The question is whether adding a non-concensus POV comment in the intro should remain or should the coroner's official cause of death stand alone without some POV comment.
Can you please step in and help on this? I know you're busy but your input would be of great value.
Thanks again for your time. Jtpaladin 17:03, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:Yehuda_Bauer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Yehuda_Bauer.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 18:56, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Inquisitor
Did you see the rationale in Image:Yehuda Bauer.jpg? What part of it is under dispute? You seem to take pride in your overzealousness, but it may harm the project. Please try to be reasonable in the future. ←Humus sapiens ну? 23:09, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, Humus sapiens. What's under dispute, as explained in the image tag, is the replaceability of this image. I.e., this image is used to illustrate a topic for which a free alternative image could be found or created. We should use a free image of Mr. Yehuda Bauer to illustrate him. But if no such image is promptly available, we should use no image for now (this, per se, is an incentive to the production of a free alernative). This is as "reasonable" as our policy goes.
- Just let me know if you still have any doubts. Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 23:15, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- And please, do not remove the {{replaceable fair use}} tag. If you, by any reason, disagrees with it, you can dispute the tagging by following the instructions on the tag itself. I've reverted your second removal. All the best, --Abu badali (talk) 23:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
"Continue to spread hatred"
"Do not expect to be able to use WP to continue to spread hatred.". I am not native speaker, so maybe I miseunderstood what you were trying to say. Humus, there is no point to pollute Bielski Partisans page to discuss whether I spread hatred in wikipedia or not. If you can point me specific example where I was "spreading hatred" against Jews, please point me the specific passage. I would be also happy to see your explanation why saying Bielski's engaged in robbery and killing civilians "typical antisemitic canard". I think it would be necessary then to alarm public opinion that Polish official institution of historians (which was recently a bit abused by our newest regime, but was quite a resepectable institution before) spreads hatred and engages in typical antisemitic canards.
Otherwise, I expect you will apologise for your unfounded and hurting remarks. Actually, "I expect" is just a figure of speech in this case. In fact I fully expect you will continue to pretend that saying "someone is called a bandit" means the same as "Jews are bandits" and is typical antisemitic canard, equivalent to blood libels. In such case just stop answering, unless you want to add something to the article. Wikipedia is not discussion board. Szopen 11:44, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dying to Kill by Mia Bloom cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Dying to Kill by Mia Bloom cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

- In addition: please don't just restore this image to "Child suicide bombers in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict" and remove the tag. As WP:NONFREE clearly states, nonfree cover art is acceptable "only in the context of critical commentary of that item", and "An image of a rose, cropped from an image of a record album jacket, used to illustrate an article on roses" "would almost certainly not be fair use under the policy". Hey Humus, I am trying to forge a compromise here and since you are an involved party I would like you to participate. If you could made a statement with regards to your opinion on the matter it would be much appreciated. Cheers --Cronholm144 04:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Warning
Your comments at Talk:Child_suicide_bombers_in_the_Israeli-Palestinian_conflict have been persistently rude and abusive. You've made serious accusations ("denial", "pro-Hamas soapboxing") without the slightest justification. You have repeatedly restored an image which violates WP:NONFREE, with no justification except questioning my motives for deleting it. You have used a misleading edit summary in the course of an edit war.
These actions violate WP:AGF, WP:CIV, and WP:NPA. I urge you to change your behavior rapidly.
Eleland 21:01, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- In regards to this particular edit summary: you in fact removed the findings of qualified academic observers which found no incitement, removed one allegation from MEMRI, and added other information from PMW.
- The report of the IPCRI was still mentioned, but its conclusions were removed -- giving the impression that this report bolstered the claim, when it actually demolished it. Same for the Harry S Truman study.Eleland 22:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Image use and edit warring
You seem bent on adding Image:Dying to Kill by Mia Bloom cover.jpg to Child suicide bombers in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict despite all attempts at discussion and explanation, so this will be your last warning: That image is licensed only as fair use in an article about the book. It may not be used in any other article, no matter how relevant the subject matter may be. It can't even be used in the article about the author. I have removed it for the last time, and if you re-insert it into any of those articles for any reason you will be blocked for persistent violation of our image use policy. If you would like to write an article about the book you are free to do so and you may then use the image there. Otherwise it will soon be deleted as an orphaned fair use image. Unspecified source for Image:Golda_working_in_kibbutz_Merhavia1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Golda_working_in_kibbutz_Merhavia1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 00:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Child suicide bombers in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Please take a step back and cool down. The edit warring and name calling is conduct unbecoming an administrator. You should know better than to accuse other users of trying to "turn a WP article into a Hamas poster". Comments like that aren't productive. It's obvious that you are taking this article very personally, and your judgment is suffering as a result. I'm coming from a neutral position based on our policies of image use and civility, and right now you're the only one violating the rules of engagement; since I blocked him last week, Eleland has done nothing but remain civil and try to discuss the situation. You've resorted to name calling and reverting out of hand.
Don't let this situation get the better of you. Kafziel Talk 12:24, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Odessa massacre
Hi! There is nothing too wrong in titling Odessa massacre, but the very name of event historically is reffered to the masssacre that occured in Odessa in 1905 [1]. So, it could be more correct to call the extermination of Jews traditionaly a Holocaust to avoid any misunderstanding of the title. Truly, Paganel 18:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for welcome! Well, can Odessa massacre be passed to Odessa Holocaust. Are the exposed reasons enough? Sincerelly Yours, Paganel 20:09, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Wright You are. But it can be called Holocaust in Odessa, like Holocaust in Poland, Holocaust in Romania, Holocaust in Estonia. But the word Holocaust must be present, firstly, to avoid double meaning (The Odessa Massacre of 1905). And it really was a Holocaust and not an abstract massacre! So, the "Odessa massacre (Holocaust)", proposed by You, or "Odessa Holocaust Massacre" or, as it was, "Odessa Holocaust" or "Holocaust in Odessa" would be a nice title for the redirection, because this word must be present. What is your opinion? Very often I pass along the mass graves of it, and I know that a massacre is something caotic, but in Odessa it was not like this, it was a very well organized process of extermination. Truly, Paganel 22:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Hamas
I think that my edit, see the difference here is more appropriate for the lead, as it states the "hard fact" that Hamas is responsible for suicide attacks. The "best known" thing is less of a "hard fact". Quite apart form the dispute on the talk page about the accuracy of that statement, it is a fact about people's perceptions about Hamas. But that perception is consequence of Hamas' actions. These actions are thus more important things to mention in the lead, the perception is a derivative of this (and is still mentioned later in the article, all the citations that were given are still cited there in my version).
