Constipated IP on the ref desk[edit]

I think that user is trolling. Your answers were topical and thorough, but I don't think you'll go to hell for leaving gassy jack to his own methane-fuelled devices. Personally I'm through with her/him. Anchoress 23:05, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What can I say, I'm passionate about fibre. Yeah, I should know better. iames 23:13, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm passinit too. :D <<---- BTW my first and last ever bathroom humour on WP. Anchoress 23:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was funny! (Is it because I'm Canadian too?) iames 14:41, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we Canadians have the best sense of humour. ;-) Anchoress 01:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ref desk The Onion[edit]

Sometimes papers in non-English speaking countries will reprint content from The Onion, especially stories showing how evil/corrupt/foolish Americans are, but always with a slight tone of puzzlement. Parody and hoax are a wonderful thing: I once read of a hoax, probably in the 1700's,consisting of a paid announcement, published in a newspaper, which stated that at a certain time on a certain hilltop outside of town, a gentleman wearing formal wear, complete with boots and a tophat, would jump into an ordinary small-necked one pint bottle, of the sort vinegar is sold in, such that he would be completely contained inside the bottle. Everyone knew that it was a hoax, and that it was impossible, but a large crowd still showed up. I would have showed up myself, just to see him make the attempt. But alas, eventually it dawned upon the crowd that they had been hoodwinked. While I was in college, there were TV commercials wherein the "Bayer aspirin man" would answer questions from a supposed audience like "What pain reliever do doctors recommend most?" So some anonymous person put up posters announcing that at a specified time and place, the Bayer Aspirin Man would appear to answer all their questions about non-prescription pain relievers. Even knowing the overwhelming probability that it was a hoax, on the appointed evening, reporters from the college paper and a roomful of people showed up. Edison 18:31, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of UEnd Foundation[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is UEnd Foundation. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/UEnd Foundation. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
