Question from Maytree1677 (11:42, 28 March 2023)

Hello whoever my mentor is. I'd still like to get this page up and running but I haven't a clue how to do it. The main objection appears to be calling it a record company?? Starting off in 1985, Oxrecs has been releasing CDs since early 1990s. We have a websie which list releases, many of which are downloadable. I've also linked to some of our artists. Where do we go from here please? I'm happy to pay for about an hour's work to sort this out as all the detail is in place! regards Bernard Martin --Maytree1677 (talk) 11:42, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

@Maytree1677, welcome to Wikipedia. The thing is that, an article must be notable and must be supported by multiple reliable and Independent sources before they're reviewed and accepted. I can see the comments of previous reviewers and I advise you look at them and do your corrections. You can ask anything more if you're unclear. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 18:38, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
So which links aren't reliable and independent please? I'd be happy to have a telephone conversation about all this. Details on the website. Maytree1677 (talk) 08:16, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
@Maytree1677, a previous reviewer of the article left the following comment "The Oxford articles don't appear independent, and it isn't at all clear that they provide significant coverage of the label itself, as the previous reviewer has already noted. Worldcat is certainly independent, but does not provide significant coverage, and particularly does not provide critical coverage." Just work on the sources and resubmit. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 13:58, 1 April 2023 (UTC)

Question from Moblaqboi (22:19, 30 March 2023)

I've made two articles and they are being deleted saying they are not notable because of they don't have much sources, so please I want your help in writing my own article --Moblaqboi (talk) 22:19, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

@Moblaqboi, welcome to Wikipedia. Your article was deleted because it was not notable enough. I also see that the article is about yourself. I'll strongly advise you refrain from creating it as there will be a conflict of interest. Just give it time, in the future, you might be notable enough to have an article. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 14:07, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
thank you sir Moblaqboi (talk) 15:20, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm none the wiser. All the links appear go to independent sites or references in Wikipedia. So I still don't know how to move forward on this one!!. Can you just delete the bits that it doesn't like? It woould be some much quicker to talk on the phone or have a video chat please? 216.213.168.217 (talk) 14:09, 1 April 2023 (UTC)

Question about an article.

Hello you declined one of my articles because it needs more credible sources which is fine but I wanted to ask if I shortened it because I was told the original article is to long to be a stub is it possible to get it published as one? Neogenesiscreation (talk) 14:44, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

@Neogenesiscreation, Welcome to Wikipedia. Sorry I'm not able to see the article as it has been deleted, so I can't make any suggestions. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 22:45, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Question from IkDinAyega (02:15, 13 April 2023)

Hi Idoghor, I need help getting a page approved for a musician. Any assistance and guidance will be greatly appreciated, thank you. --IkDinAyega (talk) 02:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi IkDinAyega, welcome to Wikipedia. An article needs to follow the General Notability Guidelines which states in summary that "A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Given the above, you need to back up whatever is in the article with reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and these excludes Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other of such. Question from Bhawana B (16:37, 13 April 2023)

How to make your own page on wikipedia? --Bhawana B (talk) 16:37, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi Bhawana B, welcome to Wikipedia. If you're talking about creating a page about your self, it is strongly discouraged as there will be a conflict of interest. If you're notable enough, someday, someone will do that. If you're talking about creating your first article, you should read the guidelines Here. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 21:18, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank u so much for this guidance! Bhawana B (talk) 04:16, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Question from Marcglobalcommunications (20:35, 27 April 2023)

Is it possible to restore a previously deleted page? --Marcglobalcommunications (talk) 20:35, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

@Marcglobalcommunications, Welcome to Wikipedia. Yes it's possible to restore deleted pages, but not all. It's basically for pages deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. You can check out Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion to see if the page you're requesting for undeletion falls within the specified categories. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 22:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Question from Snarflakes (05:22, 1 June 2023)

Hi, I'm new here, I just got my first article rejection, it had some good sources but not "enough" for a full article. Perhaps I should add it in to another article as it intersects with a lot of areas? Thanks for the advice. --Snarflakes (talk) 05:22, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

Notice

The article Khosi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to be notable per WP:GNG, WP:ONEVENT; winner of one season of a TV show does not confer notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:59, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Nomination of Khosi for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Khosi is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khosi until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
