Speedy deletion nomination of PepperTap

[edit]

Hello Incredible Help Online,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged PepperTap for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 12:38, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to PepperTap

[edit]

Hello, Edito Freak — congratulations on the new name, it looks good on you. I just made an extensive edit to PepperTap, and I wanted to go over a few tips for you based on what I found that needed fixing.

  • The title= parameter in citation templates should almost always be exactly what title is given on the page, book or article (one exception is if a webpage has no title on the page but does have a useful HTML title, in which case we use that, as with the Google Play and iTunes sources cited in this article). It's best to copy and paste titles (and author names, work names, etc.) whenever possible, so as not to introduce accidental typos like "PepperTa[".
  • If an author name is given, it should always be included in the citation. On the other hand, if the only author credit is something like "Staff writer", it shouldn't be included. (Sometimes, though, to confuse matters even more, a credit given in place of an author's name will be to a news agency; such credits should be included in the citation, but in the agency= parameter rather than the author= one.) One reason for this is that, especially with news articles published online, the URL may be changed in the future, making the link given in the citation go "dead"; but armed with the article title and author name, it's usually possible to find the new URL using Google and fix the broken citation.
  • Similarly, if a date of publication is given in the source, that date should always be included in the citation. (Note that accessdate=, while important to include for any citation that includes a URL, is a separate parameter from date=, which is used for date of publication.) This is mostly so readers know when the information cited dates from without necessarily having to go read the source themselves.
  • The first time a particular work, website or publisher is part of a citation, if it has a Wikipedia article about it, it should be intralinked by surrounding the work, website or publisher name with double brackets, like so: [[News Company]]. (Sometimes it's good to bracket a company name even if it doesn't yet have a Wikipedia article, to indicate that it probably should have an article.) However, if the same work, website or publisher is mentioned again in another citation, it should not be intralinked after the first time. See WP:Overlinking for more details.
  • If you aren't already using them, I highly recommend the citation template fill-in forms accessible via the "Cite" link in the blue bar at the top of the page-editing window. You may sometimes need to use the "Show/hide extra fields" button, especially with the "Cite web" form which doesn't display the publication-date field by default (it's often better to use "Cite news" for that reason), and some fields such as trans-title= aren't included even in the extended forms, but overall it's a tremendously useful tool for formatting citations correctly.

Thanks for all your hard work creating and editing this article. Wikipedia appreciates your contributions, and we hope to see you stay around and work on other articles as well. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 01:34, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Nexa

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nexa, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Possibly unfree File:PepperTap Logo.png

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:PepperTap Logo.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:48, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, Edito Freak. A couple of points about the status of File:PepperTap Logo.png:
  • If you did design this logo for PepperTap, then you have a conflict of interest (and are almost certainly a paid editor) and should declare that conflict on your user page. (Note that for paid editing, disclosure on the user page is mandatory and violators may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.)
  • Also, logo copyrights are usually considered to belong to the company or other organization the logo is used to identify, not the designer who created the logo — otherwise the company couldn't use the logo without asking the designer's permission every single time. So even if you did design the logo yourself, you might not have the right to say it can be used under the license specified on the image page.
  • About that license: In order to be used on Wikipedia, most images have to be released under a Creative Commons license. These licenses mean that anyone can use an image released under such a license for any purpose — this would even mean that another company could use the logo designed for PepperTap to impersonate PepperTap and poach PepperTap's customers! For this reason, it is extremely rare for companies to allow their logos to be licensed under Creative Commons... but that's how it's currently listed.
If you made mistakes in the information you gave when uploading the image, that's okay; copyright is confusing, and lots of people make mistakes with it. Even people who know about copyright in general often make mistakes when it comes to the specific rules relating to copyright on Wikipedia. The incorrect information can simply be replaced.
Normally, logos to be used on Wikipedia are included here based on the Fair Use exception in copyright law. In a nutshell, this means that anyone can use a copyrighted image (such as a logo) if they have a legitimate educational purpose for using it and an alternative image wouldn't work. So, if you want, I could simply change the copyright status claimed for the PepperTap logo image to be a free use rationale rather than a claim that no one except you personally owns the copyright of the design. Or I could explain to you the steps so you could change it to a Fair Use rationale yourself.
Let me know what you'd like to do. Note that if you do nothing, the image might be deleted. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 20:57, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please do it User:GrammarFascist as I cannot see that thing. I used this logo from the company page, on the website. And I am certainly not a paid editor, so rest ensured. I am just learning to bring out the information in public. Thank you Edito Freak (talk) 04:23, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(I corrected the indenting of your response, Edito Freak; you should always begin talk page responses with one more colon : than the person above you used.) I have corrected the information on the logo file information page, and made a note explaining that at the Possibly unfree files page. As for how I did it, I went to the file information page for a logo I knew had the correct copyright information, copied templates from that page, and changed the information in the templates pasted as appropriate. The page I used was File:Top Marques Monaco logo-200px.jpg, which as the uploader I knew had its templates filled out correctly; be careful of copying templates from a file information page you're not certain has indeed been done correctly, as many files remain on Wikipedia which do not have the correct information to prevent their deletion. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 11:43, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the corrections, dear User:GrammarFascist it is very good to learn the things from editors like yourself. I will take care of the things you mentioned from the next time. Edito Freak (talk) 04:53, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on PepperTap requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Edito Freak. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Morphogenesis (Company), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Lemongirl942 (talk) 10:41, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:S-Cross NEXA.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
