Welcome to Wikipedia. I notice that, on various articles, you have been adding external links to Indiana Historical Bureau blog posts. Wikipedia has a policy on external links, and a related policy on external link spam. I'm not sure that your contributions comply with these policies.

Instead, might I suggest that you contribute to the articles themselves? Adding content (supported by reliable sources would be much more beneficial to the encyclopedia than simply directing readers to your outside blog.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks. Brianga (talk) 17:40, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no. The external links should only be as inline cited sources. I'm afraid what you;ve done is WP:SPAM. More bad news to follow. Sorry. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 22:21, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 22:22, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hello. I just saw this message about our account. I am new to Wikipedia editing and didn't realize that I violated the guidelines. Our blog is an extension of the Indiana Historical Bureau, a reputable state agency dedicated to research about Indiana history. Our blog posts are based on primary and secondary research, written by professional historians, many of which have graduate degrees. We would like to share our findings with the public. What is the best way to do so on Wikipedia? If you will not unblock this account is there an alternate method of sharing our content with Wikipedia readers? We're really passionate about making our research accessible to the public. Thanks so much.

Decline reason:

Firstly, it is necessary that you apply for a change of username to a name which is non-promotional in nature; secondly, a Wikipedia account must be used by one person only, and an organization of any kind cannot have an account; thirdly, any information posted here must be supported by independent and good quality third-party references, and the research you wish to write about may not qualify under this criterion. Please feel free to re-apply for unblock if you can satisfy these conditions. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:26, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Well then

[edit]

we need a new user name- that represents an individual. <something unique to you> @ Indiana Historical Bureau would suffice. We try to avoid our real world names. That should suffice. As to meeting our shared goals, I think Wikipedia:GLAM will help you. Thanks for your willingness to share your resources. Sorry for the bother. Copy this text as it appears on your page-- {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} and fill in your new user name. Put Wikipedia:GLAM in the "your reason here" space. Look forward to unblocking you and sorry again for the bother.--Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:56, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, to reiterate, the external links should only be as inline cited sources. That's the best way to contribute to Wikipedia-- content added from your archives. Otherwise it's just more [WP:SPAM]].--Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:59, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
