Hi Indon, great to see your username pop up in my watchlist after such a while. Now where is Caniago? hmmmm. Anyway, after I saw Davidelit's great map, I forwarded him the maps I gmailed you. He said he will look into it. maybe you should coordinate with him - i'd hate to see both of you work on producing the same map. thanks Merbabu 14:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

how was my post different from the ones for other social networking sites

[edit]

How was my post different from other social networking site posts. We are not trying to advertise we are trying to gain recognition on the social networking page. Nothing I said in my article was opinion it was entirely fact, and the page was created as an attempt to be listed in the social networking article. We have many more members than a lot of other sites that have were listed and we are catering to a certain demographic.

I respect your concern about advertising, and I will edit my article-- in fact i will model it, section for section after the other social networking articles.

Thank you very much

[edit]

Arafath heuvel is indeed a hot topic in the north of Scotland for the town of Aberdeen.

please see www.thisisnorthscotland.co.uk for reference

Also Aberdeen FC is the football team of said town and have said gentleman on trial. Therefore should he sign he will be a valid member of the team and worthy of note on pedia.

Indon,

I have written this page in good faith - granted the NB has a touch of humour to it. I assure you this is genuine and not patent nonsense nor a hoax.

You want corrections, but you won't accept them?

[edit]

Your website tools are most confusing and I was not attempting to vandalize or advertise. Wikipedia should offer better tutorials (if any) on how to edit pages. I've tried to correct several anthropology pages on here (I hold a BA)in another account and they are regarded as vandalism? This entire website is full on incorrect and incomplete information, and perhaps you are aware that scholars are not allowed to use your site due to so many mistakes and also the fact that you let several users add WRONG information. If you could instruct myself and others on how to create additions--that won't get erased, that would be great...or let me get in touch with the builder of the pages.

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

[edit]

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:25, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am very new to Wikipedia and it all seems very daunting at the moment. I have a lot of knowledge on a particular class of lifeboat and I wanted to add this¨knowledge to Wikipedia when I get the hang of the editing. So to start with, I decided to add a few external links to get started. These were all very relevant to the pages I added them to, so I was very surprised when you deleted them, especially when in some cases they were more relevant than the ones already there. 44mlb 00:08, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lists of Tools (Performance Engineering)

[edit]

Indon -- regarding your recent edits of the Performance Engineering page. I concur that recently various questionable tools have been being added. And I concur that we don't need linkspam. However...it is also the case that major tools are of interest to those in the IT industry doing performance engineering -- and that the initial tools listed (the ones I placed there) mainly referenced other wikipedia pages rather than external sources. Also, please see List of GUI testing tools as an example of an entire topic devoted to a list of tools (in the GUI space); and the List of UML tools as an example of an entire topic devoted to a tool list (in the UML space). So....please reply to my talk page -- I suggest that in this case wiping out whole sections may not be the answer, as tool lists can be of value. SunSw0rd 15:26, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Resources

[edit]

Indon, these magazines are resource guides, how do they not help the wikipedia community that is specifically involved in the topics I add the magazine to? Please take the time to look over the magazines, they are not product spam. They are engineering article and resource sources. I can use more discretion on how specific the articles I place the links in are, but I do not believe you should count them as spam.OSP Editor 16:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Indon. You reverted some of my edits -- some for reasons I can accept (length), and some that I'm not going to add back because it's late where I am, but which I find unfortunate and wanted to let you know. Australia and New Guinea were indeed a single landmass from 1.6 million years ago until about 10,000 years ago. See here also. And while for some reason you object to "mentioning provinces", and Papua is indeed not one province anymore as of a year ago -- would you have preferred I use western New Guinea? What term is supposed to be used now in this context? Sorry that I forgot to add the final reference tag in though -- my bad. Salam lestari, Arjuna 12:03, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So to add our product to the list - a fair call, as you'll see if you google "java pdf library" we're one of the bigger players - we need to create a page on Wikipedia.

I was very careful to avoid any promotion and listed just the bare facts, so I think your removal was a bit hasty, particularly as it disappeared within minutes of your tag. What do you suggest as the correct course of action? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mikebremford (talkcontribs).

When you say there are some unreliable sources, you mean Youtube.com and her own site, and what else? thanks (I'm a noob; tried to read the reference you provided but it's too long and I got lost ;) cheers -- Outspan [talk · contribs] 19:08, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My edit was not vandalism. Vandalism is page blanking and addition of nonsense text What are you talking about. It is true that he has a poor dunking ability just like Shaquille O'Neal is not good at free throw(which is written in his player profile). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Basketball fan24111 (talkcontribs)

Hi. You just reverted a page blanking, which is generally a good thing. In this case, however, the user blanking the page was also the creator and otherwise sole editor of the page - qualifying the page for speedy deletion under criterion G7. If you see a page blanking on an obscure page, it might be a good idea to check the history before reverting: if the user blanking is also the only substantive editor, you should instead tag the page with {{db-g7}} or {{db-blanked}}. I deleted the page in question, just I'd like to remind you to check in the future. :) A quick reminder from your friendly neighborhood Nihiltres(t.l) 12:56, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Email to SMS Gateways - can we talk about this?

[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=SMS_gateways&action=history

On July 26, 2007 you removed a long standing and damn useful list of email to SMS gateways that I had come to rely upon. You are technically right it is just a list, but I know of no where else to find this information in such a concise and updated format.

I am asking what I need to do to have this info re-added, or if I can be allowed to setup a wiki page for the list, or host it externally with a link in the page.

Cheers, john.fields@expo-online.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.183.189.10 (talk) 22:51, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

How about DMOZ? I guess you are in the wrong place. See WP:NOT#DIR. — Indon (reply) — 23:29, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After having a think about it - I have to disagree with the removal. The NOT DIR link specifically allows lists like this one for "quick reference", especially when it is relevant to the topic. Additionally I think this list is not suitable for DMOZ as it would have to be broken up into discrete entries (ie: no longer a quick reference list). Separate entries do not engender comparison (for learning).

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:NOT#DIR

... Of course, there is nothing wrong with having lists if their entries are famous because they are
associated with or significantly contributed to the list topic, for example Nixon's Enemies List.
Wikipedia also includes reference tables and tabular information for quick reference.

This tabular information is entirely pertinent to anyone wanting to learn more about SMS gateways (especially if they can test against their own local cell phone carrier).

You are doing a great job, but this particular edit deserves a second look or a second opinion. Thanks! JF —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.183.189.10 (talk) 23:34, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Bank Indonesia headquarters.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Bank Indonesia headquarters.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Bank Indonesia headquarters.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi, you rejected our external links as inappropriate, we are not sure why they fall outside of the guidelines of wikipedia. We offer a series of statistics and profiles on premier league football players, geared towards those playing fantasy football with statistical averages and player performance data. Reviewing the guidelines for what is acceptable I cannot see why we fall outside of these? The site is accessible, free to access offer unique content not available elsewhere on the web e.g pass, tackle, cross work rate and accuracy, goal per game data etc. Please clarify what the policy is and why edits were rejected out of hand. --Squadgod1 23:09, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply Further to your response: we are not a social networking site, we do offer a game, same as the premierleague.com website does, the links we give are to the player profiles and stats not to the game, you gave the example of Rio Ferdinand who's WP profile currently lists a number of external sites, only one of which is an official site, and one of which is a beer advert masquerading as a website. I have read the spam links policy none of which i can see as applying to our profiles and performance stats. --Squadgod1 09:33, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately the claim that he invented "...a special car runs on AA battery ,water pump that consumes no electrical power and a refrigerator that consumes no power..." is a claim of notability if true. So I have sent it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Motaz sabri. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 12:53, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

why remove the external link to icenetwork.com from U.S. Figure Skating? look at usfsa.org knowing "Ice Network, LLC, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. Figure Skating, has the exclusive rights to U.S. Figure Skating's interactive media properties" Crizoc 16:14, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dont really understand what you were talking about with the Coach Allen site it was in no way shape or form a personal attack. He was the greatest teacher I or any of my friends have ever know and recently passed. We thought we would make a tribute to him by playing him in the Encyclopedia, but as you've made it clear wikipedia is not the place to do that. I lost a lot of respect for the Encyclopedia and dont plan on useing it again but I'm sure thats of no bother to you.
