Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, IsaacGang. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 05:08, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
Resubmission -IsaacGang
[edit]I read the feedbacks from @Eagleashand @Compusolus with respect to my recently submitted draft biographical article, and I find them very useful. So, I want to thank both of you. I am very private, naturally introverted person, unless I am in front of a class or giving speech. Believe it or not, I contemplated submitting a Wikipedia page for almost ten years now, but I have always found it rather silly to submit something on my own behalf or say something good about myself. So, this, by any measure, is not a self-advertisement.
My thought process changed when friends and colleagues began to refer to me as an "outlier", a term that I am sure many in this space are familiar with. So that I don't end up writing a novel, what they meant is that there aren't many - if they exist at all, former refugees or child soldiers scientists in our space and that sharing my story with the world, would in their view, inspire others, particularly those who might be hopeless. I was convinced. That is the reason for this article, because I believe I might share this value - inspiring others, with Wikipedia. This is the reason I would like to ask that you give this another look or refer me to someone higher up that I can have a conversation with. Hoping that you can make an exception, since "autobiographical articles are not encouraged" per your (eagleash)'s feedback. As such I have resubmitted the article with no modifications - hoping that it goes through this time. I am happy to continue this conversation here or can have a phone call if you would be interested in it.
Thanks. IsaacGang (talk) 19:04, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- There is no one "higher up" that you can discuss with; on Wikipedia, everyone is a volunteer. I agree with Eagleash's assessment of the draft: there's no evidence that you meet the notability guideline for academics. All of the draft's references are low-quality and do not meet WP:42, and many of the statements in the article aren't backed up by the references. If you are truly notable, then someone will probably write an article about you eventually. The draft is also written more like a resume than an encyclopedia article. I have declined this draft again, and I suggest that you focus on finding reliable sources before resubmitting. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 19:22, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Ingenuity! I learn a little more each time I hear back from one of you. And these bits and pieces slowly create a body of knowledge and with this body of knowledge, I am sure we will converge at some point - hopefully sooner. I think I am finally narrowing down the issue. IsaacGang (talk) 19:55, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Good evening, Ingenuity!
- I went a head and pulled a couple of articles from two International Newspapers, which I hope will be helpful in moving towards accepting the article. Here are two specific references in the articles:
- 1. "The prominent opposition leader also appointed Dr. Isaac Kueth Gang as new SPLM-IO representative to the United States of America" - Radio Tamazuj Newspapers (South Sudan)
- 2. "The meeting was attended by the armed opposition figures. Among the noticeable attendees were Dr. Isaac Kueth Gang – SPLM/A-IO Representative to the United States, Stephen Par Kuol – Chairman of the SPLM/A-IO Foreign Affairs, Angelina Teny – SPLM/A-IO security and defense committee, among others." - South Sudan News Agency (US)
- I will go ahead and resubmit and hope for the best. Please let me know if you need anything. IsaacGang (talk) 20:38, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Any feedback on this, Ingenuity? IsaacGang (talk) 16:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- @IngenuityI made some edits to the article but haven't heard back yet. Should I assume you will be the one reviewing the additions or will it be someone else? I ask this because the first couple of submissions were reviewed really quick, but the last one is still pending. Please educate me some more. I really appreciate it. IsaacGang (talk) 22:16, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi IsaacGang, I typically don't review the same draft multiple times. The queue currently has nearly 3000 drafts to be reviewed, so wait times of 3+ months are common. However, of the two references added since the draft was previously declined ([1] and [2]), neither shows significant coverage, so it is likely to be declined again. Keep in mind that all sources you add should be reliable and independent (not interviews) and show significant coverage (100+ words on the subject at a minimum). — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 23:22, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Great thank you, @Ingenuity. IsaacGang (talk) 20:40, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Isaac Gang
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Isaac Gang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. GPL93 (talk) 18:28, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
