This may have been a mistake, but the section you added to Sean Bell was a direct quote from the cited Fox News article. Please be more careful in the future - a direct quotation without quotation marks is both plagiarism and a copyright violation. Hi. The issue of listing commercial products falls under Wiki's spam policy which I just reread. These listings clearly fall under that umbrella - which I learned when I tried to add a commercial company which was promptly removed by another moderator. The Scholar Ship

Mike Bonner, the CEO of The Scholar Ship, is aware of the entry on The Scholar Ship and has been contacted directly by me by e-mail requesting copyright approval/permission for the information posted on the entry. This will be sent into Wikipedia as soon as it is returned to me.

That's good. You still need to follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission though so people know that permission has been requested/granted. I still feel the article reads a bit like an advert though - for example "Onboard, students are immersed in a multicultural living environment" is clearly just promotional blurb as the boat hasn't even sailed yet so who knows what students will be immersed in! --J2thawiki 08:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

List of Irish people

Hi, I notice you removed a number of redlinks from List of Irish people, which certainly helps to clean that page up. However, I'm just wondering if this is the best policy? Many of the links you removed were not names I recognised, but some of them were, and just may not have wikis as yet. I'm just wondering if there's a "correct" stance on this? Is it just to remove redlinks from lists or to try and create wikis for them? If the former, there are still plenty of redlinks left on that page, if the latter, now no-one knows who these people are as they've been deleted? You make good points, however I think most of the links removed were non-notables who had articles deleted or were added as promotional attempts to 'create' famous irish people.

The "list of Irish people" concept has potential to be very large so limiting it to people who have articles seems the easiest way of keeping it a sensible size. If there are notable people removed from the list then hopefully in the future they will have articles created and can be added to the list.

Ideally, you would add back in people you feel are notable and create stubs for them. I don't know of any policy on redlinks in lists but could be wrong... There are still lots of red links in the article as I got bored half way through as I realised how many there were! I guess my overall feeling is that there isn't much merit in having links to non-articles. --J2thawiki 12:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I tend to agree with you, actually. I always hate to see those redlinks, especially in lists. But I was even lazier than you, and never did anything about them!! Question about additions edits and refinements to narrative and assertions etcetera

Immediately after updating, adding and refining this entry I noticed that it was immediately removed. Since someone has already created this profile and I am updating it why would this be? It certainly seems to contain substantial assertions of notability.

If you look at the reason for my edit (which reverted yours), it was "Please do not remove or change this AfD message until the issue is settled". The reason for my edit was therefore that you'd removed the AfD message. THANKS FOR THE EEXPLANATION, as my friends and I are fairly new here, we're trying to get the lay of the land of such terms, codes, etc. The deletion of that part was unintentional and, in aprt, a misunderstanding of the explanations and procedures misinterpreted/applied by a few newbies.

I posted some replies to the comments and criticisms. I hope it helps explains our efforts to provide proper content in acceptable and/or well-sourced form. Thanks.

don't remove speedys

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles, as you did with Alluc. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Help with the image Image:Anthony Kalloniatis.jpg

I had uploaded the Image:Anthony Kalloniatis.jpg weeks ago and you had written on the talk page explaining what I needed to do to ensure that the proper license for the image was obtained. The owner, Anthony Kalloniatis, had given permission for it to be released under the GFDL. I forwarded all the information to OTRS weeks ago. But I haven't heard back from OTRS yet and the image is still marked a possibly unfree image. I even tried re-submitting the owner's approval to OTRS a week ago. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too.
