Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Fogg Museum. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Warning

[edit]

You must let us proceed in making very necessary and routine updates to our wiki entries, which we created. If you read the content you will see it is NOT different just more up to date.

Also, if you continue to edit our Sackler page to be about the architect, we will report you.

It is not "our" page, and the use of the word "we" suggests you are editing on behalf of an organization, which is not allowed by Wikipedia. The fact that you may have originally created the pages does not give you ownership rights over them. . . Mean as custard (talk) 18:29, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We are updating relevant information about the collection. There is no law that says we can not update information we created. I am reporting you for disrupting the exchange of true and relevant information.

This is not my account.

Then you won't mind if it is blocked. . . Mean as custard (talk) 18:38, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Harvard Art Museums? You can block it. I will request you be blocked for misusing the Sackler page for your own agenda.

He is not going to be blocked, because you do not have any authority over that page. Editing a page with which you have a conflict of interest is also highly discouraged too - while some of your edits are OK, the problem with such editing is generally a distorted (to various degrees) view of the subject, which does necessate third-party editing.--Jasper Deng (talk) 20:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been mentioned here in connection with sockpuppetry. Valenciano (talk) 18:28, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

Sorry your start here at Wikipedia seems to have been a rough one. Please take a look at the above links, they're full of helpful information on how to make your way around Wikipedia. Shearonink (talk) 18:43, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bare URLs as references within article text & the Preview button...

[edit]

There's an easier way! Rather than doing Bare URL edits like this, please refer to the following:

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability.

Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.

and
If you use the Show preview button before you hit Save, that will help keep articles' edit history from clogging up needlessly with multiple edits.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "save page" button and below the edit summary field.

Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this prior to saving. This allows you to check what the page will look like first and to check that you haven't made any errors. It also prevents the need for multiple saves. Saving the same article a large number of times in quick succession makes it harder for people to check what changed, and clogs up the page history.
Hope this helps, Shearonink (talk) 19:05, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
