Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Jlang42, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Paul Chronnell, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ranjithsutari (talk) 15:29, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Four (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:CRYSTALBALL: cannot find reliable sources for this; the few sources available reveal very little about the film.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 16:26, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article John Langridge (director) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 16:27, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Find sources that review the director's work, or show awards he has won. His notability can then be shown by coverage of him in reliable sources. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:20, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

September 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from John Langridge (director). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Do not remove Biographies of Living Persons prods from articles without addressing the issue, as you did with John Langridge (director). You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the respective talk page instead. Thank you. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 16:49, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Four (film), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Four (film). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 17:27, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at John Langridge (director). This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 18:14, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some help perhaps....[edit]

As a new contribitor, you'll find getting used to the ways things work here can be a bit of a chore. Don't despair. I invite you to visit a guide for beginners at User:MichaelQSchmidt/Newcomer's guide to guidelines. And to better determine if a film or individual might merit an article, please read WP:TOOSOON. And as for the discussions announced here on your talk page, i feel confident that User:Giftiger_wunsch might be agreeable to having the articles moved to a special userspace for you, so that the issues can be addressed at leisure. In these cases, your workspaces might be created in User:Jlang42/workspace/Four (film) and User:Jlang42/workspace/John Langridge (director). You can work on them and get input from other editors before moving them to mainspace. And if your are the John Langridge your username suggests, please keep in mind that Wikipedia highly discourages any editor from promoting themselves or their projects. Check out the guides about conflict of interest. Best regards, and don't be discouraged. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:34, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Michael's sentiments above, and if the AfD results in deletion, I have no problem with the article being userfied and improved ready for when more information is available. Being a new contributor, however, I would like to urge you to read and understand policy before making accusations of misstating policy like this. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 09:09, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not making an accusation but merely echoing what had already been said. Also did put 'with the greatest respect' at the beginning of my post which I sincerely meant. As new to Wikipedia, would welcome pointers rather than personal attacks if that's okay. Many thanks.

Putting "with the greatest respect" at the beginning of the message does not negate the accusation of bad faith which follows it. And making unfounded accusations of personal attacks could itself be construed as a personal attack. I have said nothing to you which has not been courteous and informative, and I do not appreciate accusations to the contrary. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 09:31, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'Being a new contributor, however, I would like to urge you to read and understand policy before making accusations of misstating policy like this' Alright, sniffy then. And definitely a shade 'bitey'. Love to stay and chat but have stuff to do. Feel free to delete the article if you want or remove the banner thing at the top. I'll leave it up to you. Best, Jlang42

Please do not remove content from pages without explanation, as you did with this edit to Four (film). If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 14:23, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at John Langridge (director), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. The reverted edit can be found here. Thank you.  ʄlame  14:36, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Cyber Bullies of Wikipedia, Please feel free to delete all my contributions with immediate effect. Not interested in having my artistic or academic integrity called in to question in this fashion. Best, JLang42

Article Incubator[edit]

Hello, I understand that you wanted to create an article for the film Four on Wikipedia. I know that you ran into a wall of criticism, and I hope you understand that Wikipedia favors independent creation of a topic. I think your film is on the threshold of the encyclopedia's notability standards and is likely to cross it, as there are many articles of similar stature on Wikipedia that were created and reviewed with success. When your film comes out, it ought to receive plentiful coverage, and there can be an article for the ages. If you want to keep working on the article in some form, I recommend checking out Wikipedia:Article Incubator. I've seen a few editors create articles there that are not quite ready for the "mainspace", and they later move the articles into the public eye. You may want to do this, and I encourage soliciting for help from independent editors to avoid the conflict of interest that was perceived with the film article. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Erik (talk | contribs) 14:52, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
