Hello, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I especially appreciate that you put the SVV article into layman's terms - that's really useful. However, I do notice that many of your edits contain minor errors. Most of these you're catching and fixing in the next edit, but it's really best for readers, and for other editors who may be patrolling for these errors (that's how I found you) if your work is as correct as possible when it's submitted.

You can always practice and draft text in your sandbox (link at top right), and using the preview button to see what your changes will actually look like is a good habit to get into. It will make it immediately clear if you've got broken formatting, which can often be caused by one wrong character and can be nearly impossible to spot in the editing window. I'll attach an automated message about "preview" below. If I can help with anything, just let me know! Jessicapierce (talk) 17:55, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 17:55, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jessica,

Preview is a great tool. I don't have much experience with coding so I am learning as I go. Lost my way on editing when I created my user page?!? Just reached out to the help desk. Hope I'm responding to your message in kind. Sucks to be a newbie :( but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon.

I'm sure you will! Keep in mind that you can always take a peek at the "guts" of any Wikipedia article just by clicking the edit button, and not actually changing anything. I found that very useful when I was starting out. If there's something you're curious about, like how an article might have bold text or a numbered list, check out the coding and maybe even copy it into your sandbox and mess around with it. There's a lot you can do with just a few basics. Jessicapierce (talk) 05:33, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
