Redirecting your userpages

Hi Julijagifford. I have fixed the mess you made of moving your article into article space. In future, please create drafts in a personal sandbox, rather than on your userpage. Moving your userpage and user talkpage into article space is a very bad idea, since it means that anyone trying to contact you will be redirected to the article.

In addition, please don't move article content into project space; if you're ready to release an article, please move it into article space. For more help, see the guidelines on moving pages. Yunshui  12:45, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. I did have it in my sandbox, but this article suggested to start in the user space, so I copied it in. I'll definitely know for the next time. P.S. Thanks for your patience :)

Your sandbox is a subset of your userpage, so it's still in userspace - I can see how that's confusing, though. The format to create a sandbox or draft is to start a page titled User:Juliajagifford/Sandbox or User:Juliajagifford/Name of your new article. The "/" tells Wikipedia to treat it as a subpage, so when you move it, only that subpage is redirected (rather than your main userpage). If you add the code {{My sandbox}} to your userpage, it will create a box with a link you can click on to start a new sandbox page.

Aha, I see. Quite the steep learning curve, but I'm sure I'll get there. Any chance that it's purposely made confusing to discourage those, who want to make spam pages? :P

Personally, I think its confusing because of Wikipedia's "designed-by-committee" construction - the "obvious" way of doing things isn't always the "consensus-approved" way. That said, it's not that steep a learning curve; once you've grasped basic policy and markup, it levels out pretty sharply. By the way, when you post on talk pages (for both users and articles), make sure you sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), which automatically inserts your signature and a timestamp. Kokles "intonation" edit?

Greetings, I tightened up your added info about the "concert kokle". One bit is unclear though: what do you mean by "change the intonation"? Do you mean they have sharping levers or something to, say, change the F into an F# by flicking a lever? Or some kind of pedals or dampers? The term is unclear in that sentence.

Also, do you happen to know what is meant by "vl", and "vc" down in the "Modern music" section? I'm not sure what those abbreviations are meant to be. It is cool to see that a piece was written with kokles tuned a quarter-tone apart in order to hit all the in-between notes; the American composer Charles Ives did a similar thing for his series of quarter-tone pieces for two pianos!

Oh, and not to put work on you, but since this article was founded a ton more material on kokles has become available via GoogleBooks. If you're in the mood to expand the article with Wiki-proper citations, the resources are out there. We could even push to get this ranked on "Good article" status, which would be cool. The method would be to go to GoogleBooks and find kokles info; note you can use reftag.appspot.com to automatically format gBooks links into Wikipedia cites (note for Snippet view you have to manually enter the page number). Hey there, yes, I mean the flick the lever and you go from F to F#. That section can totally be expanded, since there's a lot about the concert kokles. In fact, if either of us had the willingness or the time, I'm sure that the topic could merit its own page. In fact, this kind of overlaps with the contemporary music, since the concert kokle is so much more versatile, there are many pieces being writen for them.

I also happen to have a book by Valdis Muktupāvels about kokles, there's a lot of great info, which could add some juice to the page. For example, there are many other more common kokle string amounts. Either way, I'll definitely chip at it, although time is quite limited :)

don't forget to "sign" you post with ~~~~ each time Sounds great; my time is pretty variable as well, but Wikipedia has no deadline, so whether now or next year any contributions to the articles are helpful. I did also run across a bit in this book here[1] which explains the sharping levers (page 118) for all the Baltic psalteries, so I might use that to go clear up the "intonation" term there. Glad to see you enthused to help, and that you're dealing with all the technical learning curve. Don't forget to sign Talk posts, and when you reply to someone's post, add a ":" at the start of your post to indent. If they used one colon to indent to your above post (as I did), then type two colons, so that replies are staggered down the page. This becomes expecially important when multiple people are in a discussion, as someone might be referring to a reply to a reply (and thus three indents) or might use no indents at all if they're starting a new point in the discussion. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy

Notability of Printful

On Wikipedia, notability is a test used by editors to decide whether a given topic warrants its own article. There is a specific guideline for organizations and companies namely Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Please could you read that guideline and explain on the the talk page for Printful why you believe that it qualifies under that guideline. Please pay particular attention to "depth of coverage". You might read at least the introduction at Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions in order to avoid non-persuative arguments such as "it contains interesting information". Thanks. A note on credible sources: Take a look at self-published sources; for the Printful article this would include items published by Printful (including press releases), or by The Draugiem Group, or their employees. In the same manner articles or mentions in business journals that simply regugitate press releases would not be considered reliable sources.
